Should you make gear buying decisions when drunk?

I’m sat in the garden trying to muster the energy to clean the house. Had 2 small beers already, just to enjoy the sun and quiet and ponder my gear wants list. First and foremost I’m a lightweight when it comes to alcohol, so my mind and wants list has altered quite dramatically already, and I’d previously stated in another thread that I wanted to make music with only an Op-1 and pedals. So it begs the question, is it wise to make gear choices whilst inebriated?

Off to clean….or fall asleep.

Is it wise to marry someone when drunk?
Clean the house, go to sleep and tomorrow when sober, you know the real deal.

imagine when drunk, make decisions when sober.

drunk is not sober, and high is not sober as well.
but there’s a huge difference.

…since wet gas dreaming plans on pedals is second on pandoras box list, right after the modular planet, be warned, always think twice and TAKE IT SLOW…

besides the fact that, getting a little tipsy from time to time is a great amplifier for almost everything, but NOT for making final decisions…

Most important to be drunk and full of other stuff before buying anything and either driving my car😂

This is one of the least regrettable public intoxication posts imaginable.

I think you made the right decision posting this instead of buying gear.

That being said, I’ve drunk bought gear- as long as its not a huge purchase and isn’t a regular habit I don’t see it as a grave sin.

But if you’re soberly considering acquiring gear, be careful about drinking- especially if you have within you the optimistic spiritual hippy drink that is prone to fabricate platitudal reasons for buying the gear.

Placing the order when sober is much more exhilarating anyway

Remember that you probably took your worst life decisions when sober.

I’d say if there is a way to return it and get your money back just in case … where is the problem?

Just do the opposite of what your drunk self is telling you to do.
That is most likely the correct thing to do

would be cool to blackout and order a synth and then be pleasantly surprised/horrified when a big Sweetwater box shows up on your doorstep

A friend of mine used to do it frequently and often (but not always) regretted it. We joked about making him a usb breathalyzer dongle for eBay.
A few years ago I had the flu and an accompanying fever so high I was hallucinating. I don’t remember much of it except my wife taking my phone and keys away from me, the video she took of me in the hospital is hilarious. Apparently before she took my phone I had bid on a ton of stuff on eBay, thank fuck I lost all of the auctions. It wasn’t all gear but that was the most expensive part.

I’ve taken some great decisions when I was pissed, some of them life changing, but also more mundane ones, such as (gear) purchases. No regrets. I’d say go for it.
