Hi guys, I’ve made an Ableton drum rack that lets you combine Syntakt with Ableton Instruments and effects to allow for a hybrid workflow. Figured I’d save people the hassle of setting this up themselves. Please ignore the donate amount, my intention is to share this freely
(this will only work as is on Windows, if you use the Mac AU Syntakt plugin you’ll probably have to set the routing up from scratch, but there was a someone on these forums who already shared a Mac version of a similar rack)
You can use this to apply Live’s effects to individual Syntakt tracks while also using Syntakt’s sequencer to play your own samples/instruments on 12 separate drum pads. And I also included a user remote script to use the Encoders to control whatever rack is selected + a project file to load into Syntakt to work with the Rack. And as an extra a Kick synth I made in Operator which I’ve dropped on one of the pads
If for some reason the syntakt routing settings aren’t set to “post-fader” when you load the project I recommend doing that so you can control track levels from your Syntakt
I made it in Live 12 so it won’t work in 11 unfortunately. You’ll need overbridge set up for this to work.
If you want to kind of mimic Dikitakt workflow and resample the syntakt into an Ableton drum pad there’s a Max4Live sampler I’ve found that let’s you resample any source directly into the sampler (it’s called Beat-Lab-Instant-Sampler). I have it in an instrument rack with Macros mapped so I can resample mouse free, I didn’t include though it since it’s not my own work but if you’re craving resampling with your Syntakt and don’t have a Digitakt this is a neat way to do it.
