Share your Digitakt 2 drum sounds!

So I picked up a Digitakt 2 awhile back, and have fallen in love with it. Only one problem: I spend all my time hunting for drum “kits” (not a DT kit but a collection of drum sounds), and never end up making anything. I wanted to see if there was anyone here that has put together a collection or two of drum sounds into a …errrm, sound - that wouldn’t mind sharing.

Just being objective here but unless you want to use hip hop drums on techno tracks or other such creative endeavors, you might state what you’re after rather than going for the fishing net approach.

First off they’re samples so it’s not something that is really digitakt 2 specific unless you’re looking for stereo kick drums of a particular variety and obviously sharing is caring so I’m not in opposition of the idea you’re proposing, however I’m not sure it’s the most effective way to get what you want.

Most people go through exhaustive lists of samples and either never end up making music because they’re too busy going through samples or they use the same 5 decent sounding drum samples over and over tweaking the eq a little bit until someone notices.

My point is that there are lots of great sample packs and organizing and choosing samples is usually a pretty personal thing because not only is there a lot of work in curating and managing what you’ve acquired or sampled yourself, but also just the fact that for a lot of people drums represent the core element of what they’re making.

The TLDR of what I’m saying is unless you just want to collect some drums without doing any legwork, it might be good to talk a little bit about the kind of music you hope to make with your digitakt and the kind of samples that would benefit you because 909 samples are widely commercially available and not specific to the DT2 but if you’re looking for live sampled handpans or something then you should probably make deliberate note of that.

Hopefully some people respond favorably, and you might end up with some winners, so best luck!

FWIW here’s a topic I created a couple years ago about a nice resource for free sample packs, where myself and quite a few people have had fairly good luck with some of the high-quality samples that this guy at Burgh Records (who I am entirely unaffiliated with) makes available on his website, along with various premium content.

Maybe something there will be useful to you, lots of drums and effects etc. Nature sounds and whatnot.

Yup, you’re right about that. I was intentionally vague in the hopes of finding gems of all kinds, but I suspect I’ll get a lot of “go make your own samples,” and that’s 100% fair.

No, in my opinion it’s not really fair for people to approach it like that, which is why I deliberately didn’t say anything of that sort.

Like I said (or implied), it’s reasonable to think that this kind of sharing can happen online without people taking off their shirts, applying warpaint and dancing with spears around a firepit but even if you said “I make all genres so don’t be shy!” it’s easier for people to interpret it not as a lack of effort but as a desire to see what others are inspired by.

Hopefully that sentiment was not lost in my initial post.

Nope, not lost at all and I really appreciate you taking the time to respond!
