Share your best LFO tips/tricks for Rytm

Hi!
I and probably a lot of others would like to hear what is your best/favorite tips/tricks for use of LFO on drums in the RYTM.
I am still trying to get a good grip on this.

Besides effects parameters. Set a sample past the end point then set the LFO to modulate the backward waveform position with a negative LFO value, then performance macro. An even better one is to create subtle phase relationships or differences between identical track copies with detuned LFO settings.

LFO on SAMPLE / Fine detune is pretty and give some life + break the repetitiveness of long samples I feel…

Using sample mode on, on the track. I like using the LFO set to 512x, with a full depth and a random wave, applied to sample slot. You will start getting this glitchy, random groove. And then i set some performance modes to tuning, and i start play with the length of the sample and the loop… You will get nice stuff.

For that you will need your sample memory for that project fully loaded, that way you will always get a sound.

Volume modulation is always fun to create side-chain style effects. Lfo settings sine wave, free mode, speed settings may vary; speed 4 mult 16 is a good start. I’ll place trigs where my kicks are then set the mode to trigger. Try it out on the multiple volume options (synth, sample, amp), if you set the filter with some higher resonance the self ocillation can change up sounds quite interstingly.

Anyone got some suggestions of cool stuff they use the LFO for?
I use it to modulate the filter to get a bit movement in the track (basic I know!)
Would anyone with a bit more knowledge like to share ideas?

often breathes life into the sound - actually works well not just with RYTM but other elektron boxes too, very good on arpeggios for say FOUR

Use an impulse machine. Turn up the filter resonance 90+ LFO destination: filter cutoff frequency. Turn up the LFO speed multiply a lot, listen for a sweet spot. Turn up the fade or not. Play with the different filter types too. Use the filter envelope to get some moist sweepage.

This is what I use all the Tom tracks for.

As far as I can tell, the plethora of different sounds you can generate through the impulse machine with Filter FM is near endless… no pitch tracking though.

I absolutely love this on 909 tom samples. It adds a bit more punch.

  • DST Sample Tune
  • DEP +128
  • Trig ONE hit
  • MUL speeds around 512, 256, or 128 (slower give a bit of bass movement / faster goes from punch to tick)
  • SPD maxed
  • Ramp waveform

Nothing special or mind blowing, but it (especially!) works well to get toms to match the punchiness of kicks and cut through a mix.

I use a similar trick on the kick machines:

  • DST Tune
  • Adjust DEP to taste
  • Adjust MUL to taste (32-128)
  • Trig ONE hit
  • Exponential waveform

You can get some interesting results in combination with core synth parameters like sweep time and snap, or turn sweep time down to zero and just let the LFO govern the transient response.

What do you mean for Filter FM?

Frequency modulation - Use the impulse machine, turn up the resonance >90 on the filter, then modulate filter cutoff frequency with the LFO, adjust LFO and filter envelope parameters until “magic” happens. Enjoy.
