Relaxing at a cabin in a place called Kyburz. Northern California foothills. Thought Iā€™d bring the Digitone and my Yamaha Pocketrak. See if Iā€™m inspired.

Where is that? I also live in Japan.

My father and some friends of his benevolently manage a little network of ā€œsolidarity groceriesā€ through a non-lucrative association.
The idea is to collect food (from people that give it for free), set a very low price for this goods and give selected poor people the right amount of money (around 50ā‚¬) to teach them how to deal with a budget in real life.

It works pretty well, so my father built an Excel file to track every transaction and be able to make reports.
But as the file grows and formulas are added here and there (I contributed a bit for this), this is now so complicated that my father finds no one to ensure this is maintained when heā€™s goneā€¦

So my brothers and I, all soft dev, came to the conclusion we should work together on this, and itā€™s pretty amazing to unify our skills on an open source project: I do hope we come up with something good.

We have just started writing down the specs, but I wonder if one of you already heard about some similar open source appā€¦ donā€™t hesitate to reach me if you did.

Today I:
successfully changed the battery and replaced a bulb on my new (to me) motorbike. I love it and it has got me back in love with biking as a hobby - trying to work out how Iā€™m going to mod the seat as I type (well, not literally, but the replacement seat is in my lap).
Oh! And bought some Colmanā€™s Horseradish Sauce for 3ā‚¬ - waste of money IMO, itā€™s just weak supermarket stuff.
