I’m re-watching Fight Club, for the first time on a 4K TV. Because of the 4K video encoding/compression, I see Tyler single-frames spliced-in for the first time. I had only read about those: happy accident that modern technology finally catches up with old technology

Wish I found out about this much earlier. Now to find time to adjust the parameters to my taste.
My children (5 and 8) get to play video games two Fridays a month. Tonight they argued about pretty much every single game… until they put on Balloon Fight for NES and suddenly our TV room is a party again lol. Fuckin Balloon Fight.
I remember loving it as a kid though. I’m not huge on chiptune stuff but the music is weird and awesome and the whole game is so goofy but also kinda creepy. I had forgotten about this but it reminded me that I spent a lot of time a couple years ago fantasizing about and then literally starting (but very much not finishing) a screenplay for hard R grimdark far-future reimagining of Balloon Fight in which a city built on enormous treads moves, very very slowly, across a continent and technology has regressed to pre-internal combustion engine levels - and the most feared and revered members of society are: the Balloon Fighters. The violence was all going to be balletic, beautiful cirque du soleil type stuff rather than brutality or whatever but there could still be some gore because, yknow, earn that hard R. I would hella watch that movie! Fuckin Balloon Fight!

When I was 17/18 I would love to have an afternoon snooze after I smoked some weed. I’m 40 years old now, quit smoking weed 5 years ago after being stoned for 18 years, but my god… still love a good afternoon snooze
