Set default folder for Sample page?

Hello everyone

Im rather puzzled as to how you set a default folder when you double press the Sample button. I’m looking to be able to scroll and audition sounds, but from a specific folder on my +Drive. Can anyone provide insight on this? Thanks.

Anyone? I know its possible to do so, I’ve read through the manual but wasn’t able to find anything on this.

edit: ah sorry, misunderstood.

no I don’t think the Rytm has a default folder for that.
It remembers the last folder, but only until you switch off the machine.

The only folder that can be set as a “default” is the folder for receiving samples via SDS, but even this folder is forgotten when rebooting…

Just to confirm, it happened on my RYTM and its driving me nuts. To give you an idea of what happened, I created multiple folders on my +Drive for different samples I organized (chord stabs, hats, snares, etc). Prior to doing this, whenever I was on the Sample page and began scrolling using the D knob (or just double pressing the Sample button) I would see the default factory samples that were loaded. Now after uploading all my samples into different folders on my +Drive, whenever I scroll through the Sample page I’m automatically taken to my Chord stabs folder, and it will not allow me to change what folders I’m currently browsing by default.

It’s a huge problem thats been holding me back a few nights, I’ve hit every button combination I can imagine, menu dived into every nook and crany in this machine, read the manual, looked on Google. For the life of me, I can’t seem to find an option which allows me to switch the folder I’m currently browsing. I don’t want to load individual samples from my +Drive, I’d prefer navigating to the respective folders I’ve set up and scroll through them in real time to audition them.

Its driving me nuts. I love this thing but the file/folder navigation is atrocious. I really hope I’m the one doing something wrong and it’s an easy fix. I have no idea how it got this way though.

ok - just to get this out of the way - you do know that when you double-press the sample button, the list that you see is not part of the +Drive?
It is the list of samples which are loaded into RAM as part of the project.

so then, if you want to browse from there to whatever folders/samples on the +Drive to audition and load them:

  • scroll to one row in that list, then press FUNCTION+YES.
now, you are on the +Drive.

Scroll around, highlight a sample, press FUNCTION+YES to audition a sample.
hit just YES instead to load a sample. If you do this, you are back in the project sample list.

ok back to the +Drive:
To navigate back out of a folder, scroll to the top where the two dots are […], press YES.
now you are in the parent folder. that’s pretty much all there is to it - is this what your problem was?
