@swp.spce.ca you have no idea how much you helped me during creating the playlist/ finding a group I’ve been incapable of finding for so long. It happened while listening to Lydia Lunch (awesome voice on that lady btw thanks for that share) and later going off of a side yt recommendation. Is LL considered punk, or is that another genre?

Her video led me to come across this group called Wasted Youth with a great song that I haven’t stopped listening to! It feels like I’m a kid again, thanks :beers:

The Australian 80’s cheese doesn’t get much thicker than this:

Pseudo Echo, Funky Town.

or with more 80’s:

I had a look for one with a Molly Meldrum introduction. He introduced them live onto some Aussie TV show, was a big thing as they didn’t have a recording contract. Couldn’t find it though… shame. Molly was 80’s Australian Music/TV personified.

Don’t think I can overstate how important it was at the time that artists like these started appearing in the uk, I was 16 at the time and cut my teeth on electro and the first wave of us Hip Hop to hit the uk, hearing guys like these and the demon boys and hijack etc. was like a fuck yeah moment for me, finally someone was racking up the beats and rhymes that were totally relatable to me and not just a gangster tale from the other side of the world…

I hate 80’s artist because at that time they could buy all the vintage instruments at the shop and with full warranty

Considering the prices, rather rent or invest terrible amounts of money by today’s standards. Reading about early samplers is painful…

When it comes to 80s I guess I am more of a pop/hair metal person…

I love the synth sound in 80s absolutely!
But I think I prefer movie soundtracks to bands.

Here is my absolute favorite! I love the movie too!

Depeche Mode
The Smiths
Erasure
New Order
The Cure
Skinny Puppy
OMD
Duran Duran

all great 80s new wave bands that used lots of synths too!
