Sequential Fourm

Some names they could have considered:

  • Espresso Prophetini

  • Pocket Prophet

  • Mobile Beefaroni

Yeah, obviously. I can’t really play chords, so it’s nice that nobody expects me to do so with a mono .

Comparison is: small budget synths from premium legendary brands with fat sound.

I genuinely thought this thread was about the Sequential community forum which has been quite useful as an OB6 user! Thought they’d shut it down or something.

I’d be interested to see what they’re using under the hood. 3340 oscillators? It could be looking at the front panel options of saw, pulse and triangle? The T5 uses the SSI oscillator without a dedicated tri option… If Calc says it’s using the SSI filter you can take that as read and it’s the same as the one in the T5… no mention of analogue VCA’s so something else in common with the T5… if there’s more growl I wonder if it’s just a gain staging thing? Or do the Curtis oscillators offer more ‘bite’?

Either way it’s an interesting twist on the classic Pro One… and something that was never offered back in the day… a P1 with the rev 1/2 filter as all the P1’s used the CEM chips set

Interview with Sequential over at CDM:

Looks like the AT keyboard is proprietary, and will show up on future Sequential synths. A poly AT Prophet would be amazing.

As for this, I’m glad an analog synth with an expressive keyboard attached now exists for under $1000. A lot is riding on how good the keys are, but I’d trust Sequential to do it right.

Reportedly SSI2131, which is a simplified 2130, and a 2140 filter.

Not seen a gut shot yet.

Daniel Fisher says in his video that it is the same as the Prophet 5 Rev 2 .

Something about it, it’s really beautiful. Captures some kind of 80s nostalgia. Love the way it looks!!

Sounds good too!

Wait… is this Microkorg size?

Didn’t you see the pictures ??

News flash :

  • Height: 2.75"
  • Width: 22.13"
  • Depth: 9.88"
  • Weight: 8.76 lbs

It’s comparable to some Launcheys. Speaking of which can we expect a p-at Launchkey sometime ?

A long time back we were wondering about what the merger would mean. You’re seeing a good example of that.

Though mostly Fourme d’Ambert. Fourm over founction, one might say.

Oh now I finally get the joke, I still thought it as actually called forum because my brain apparently fixed that for me. What a terrible name …

I feel that releases like this are a direct response to US tariffs, something affordable and new to keep the sales coming, the moog messenger also falls into this category. I like the black, red and blue design - would take this over a minilogue.

The synth manufacturers seem to be copying the camera manuafcturers strategy. Affordable budget friendly and very expensive. Maybe its always been like this.

Milking R&D is crucial to finance the business. Observe how Roland, Korg and Yamaha eternally milk their’s. And yet people keep buying …
