Sequencing the RYTM MK2 with ext. SEQUENCER TORSO T-1

Hi,

Situation:
I want to Sequence the RYTM2 with an external sequencer T1.
I am sending everything on Midi Ch.10 and the notes from T1 trigger the 12 Pads (Tracks) on the RYTM2.

What I have achieved:
I now can sequence the steps from the T1.

What I want:
I would like to play (sequence) two tracks chromatically, and create a melody.
When I turn the the TUN knob on the RYTM2, the pitch changes.
But when I send different note values to the RYTM2 → all notes are triggered at the same pitch.
Example:
Sending on CH10 note value C1 → C1 is played, as it is set in RYTM2 to C1.
Sending on CH10 note values for sequence C1, E2, G2 → C1, C1, C1 is played.
Unless I turn the TUN knob manually, constantly…

Question:
Is there a way I can play the 2 tracks with the actual note values I send from T1?
To create a melody on those two tracks?

Thank you guys, your help is highly appreciated!

I think it’s just as easy as using a sound’s midi channel in both the Rytm and the T-1, instead of playing from ch10…

Hi Cecil, thank you for your quick reply.
I don’t get it.

I put the “melody-sound” midi channel to CH5 and the “Kick” and “Snare” on CH10 (or even in OFF completely)
But as soon as I send information on CH5 only → the Kick and Snare are also triggered by CH5. If I play C0 or D0…
???
The only note triggering the “melody sound” is E0.
As soon as I change it, or play other notes the other Tracks on the RYTM are triggerd.

Could you explain, what you mean?
Thank you for your help!

I am thousands of kilometres away from my Rytm at the moment  but I think section 8.6 of the manual may help you with this

You cannot play whole RYTM chromatically via a single MIDI channel.

Set channels 1-12 for individual tracks (in MIDI settings), makes sure the tracks have chromatic mode for synth / samples enabled, then send notes from T1.

In case it doesn’t do what you expect it to do, try different octaves on T1 until you find the range of octaves that works.

Once you achieve this, then you can figure out how to economize, i.e. use two MIDI channels for the melody tracks and one common MIDI channel for all the drum tracks.

Ok. This might have been the clue and helpful information I was missing…
Sounds like it!
I still have to try it out
