I am fairly new to both of these machines. I’ve had the AR for 9 months or so, and I just picked up the OT a couple weeks ago. What I’d like to know is if I can skip having to pattern sequence the AR separately, and just have all the sequencing of patterns done within the OT for both machines. But after going over the manual and googling it, I can’t seem to find anything helpful.
Is this possible, and if so can someone give me an explanation on how to accomplish it? How would I have the OT send pattern change messages to the AR?
Regarding pattern change, you need to set up the machines to send/receive this information. Here’s a very similar question, answered for AR mastering A4: Sync & Pattern Change
OT will be a great seq for the rytm! You will be able to sequence the performance controls, and will have individual scale multipliers and a killer song mode. If your MIDI chain will only involve those two boxes, you will also be able to use TURBO mode, which will give extra edge to all those MIDI LFOs etc you can control with the OT MIDI seq. They’ll make a great pair.
