Sequencer resolution

Just got the Analog Rytm MK2, long time MPC 2000xl user.
When I record to the sequencer un-quantised it still quantises (or moves) what I played.
Is this normal behaviour?

For instance, it’s seems impossible to record a quick flam

Yes; it’s a step sequencer. It’s not like a high-resolution MPC-style sequencer.

Ok thanks!

I believe that the steps that have been automatically ‘micro-timed’ lose their red-light indicating that there is a trig on that particular step. But I can’t quite recall the behavior.

I own a Rytm MK1, but I never use the sequencer to trigger tracks normally. I usually use it to record midi+cc info into Logic Pro X - so it basically acts as a 64-step midi sequencer triggering plug-ins in my daw.

The major benefit of the Rytm is that you can map cc’s from a daw to control most parameters. And it’s also live-performance oriented because it has every parameter available - but it works best if you are feeding an unquantized midi sequence to trigger it.

Great! Thanks for that, I just got this thing so I need to get to grips with the sequencer first.
But I’m looking forward to getting it sequencing software.
I still can’t save on it yet! (that’s a whole world of pain in itself)

this might help:
