it does, although I would need a keyboard to enter the notes. Thanks for yelling at the clouds btw.
Are you talking about Fugue on iPad? Sorry, not sure what sequencing tool you are referring to.
The iPad as a whole with it’s many sequencing variations, Fugue, Euclidean, Helium, Rozeta, Ooda, ZOA, Aphelian, Drambo, Polyphase, Autony, Riffer, Atom2, Thesys, Poly2, Polybud, Scalebud 2, Mozaic, Scaler2, Chordjam, Polybeat, Cykle, Progressions. A few others.
It’s my favourite and most powerful sequencer by far. Although I do like my Elektrons and Force as well for their useful, albeit less powerful sequencers.
Reading your opening post here, ofcourse a cirklon would be what you are looking for … but long the waiting list is.
Oxi one is a cool option to try, because it also has cv outs. Oora Music has some nice demos on youtube.
another option would be a quantiser like o_C Quatermain qantizer (to split 1 sequencer cv into 3 or 4 note cvs) and send it to a cv to midi converter. The key is here, the o_C can quantize alle channels in the same key and shift channels to 3rd, 4th, 5th, … so you can do chord progression with just 1 cv channel (from your Multistage for example).
Doepfer Dark Time has also Midi in/out. But not sure if the sequencer sends also notes to the Midi port.
Excuse me? what is it that you expect from an external sequencer that the internal sequencer doesn’t do? Especially regarding techno production? And thanks for nothing.
A lot actually, and it’s always interesting to discuss options. Not having an external sequencer won’t deter me from using and enjoying my new synth and make techno or whatever else with it. I just find this kind of statements super tiring and judgemental. I don’t like the tone.
Gotcha. I love the iPad too for midi sequencing, but only really use these tools if making music within the iOS territory. I’ve used it with hardware but I don’t think using an iPad is as fluid as an all in one focused machine like Hapax for controlling hardware, so I just ordered one to test out this approach.
If I’m not jamming with apps directly on the iPad, I mainly use it as a 4 channel fx send for my analog mixer - it never breaks a sweat and gives endless fx routing options.
If you don’t have a keyboard, I can understand you’re not getting along with the OT as a midi sequencer. I’d suggest getting a cheap midi keyboard for it, just to see where it takes you.
I just did, will give it a go !
Just want do add digitone keys! I switched little digi to the keys mainly for sequencing my prophet 6 and others. Good point for the digi keys is, ofcourse it has keys so no need to hook up another keyboard to the midi in and so you can sync the digi keys to daw or multi clock or to the modular via the free midi in port.
But in real life, dont using the digi keys sequencer that much. Mostly sequencing my p6 from logic via usb.
I bought the Digitone Keys with this usecase in mind but i was very frustrated.
There were several restrictions in the midi sequencing functionality in contrast to the internal tracks. So I was fucked up, disappointed and sent it back.
On top I dont like the user interface so much for polyphonic sequencing.
Now I use my Octatrack in companion with a Keystep, its fine, but only 4 Notes.
As a workaround I use a second Midi Track sometimes, but it is not ideal.
If the OB6 have the possibilty to save chords internally and convert incoming single notes to chords, I think the CV to Midi Module for your Eurorack could be a simple and cost effective approach.
yes there is a chord mode, that’s definitely and idea worth exploring, cheap and easy to try.
I would add a vote for a torso t-1. I use it with a piano vst and that is a lot of fun. I think a nice poly also can get away with eight octave range. I like how it does not have a screen, so it is very hands on. I like letting it generate stuff and then noodle along.
Then you might like the op-z as a sequencer. Can also add some voices in a pinch and has a harmonic transposition feature on the master track.
But then there is the launchpad pro. The sequencer is very immediate and it too has chord modes. Good for noodling.
Finally the keystep pro is a good addition to almost any setup.
Oxi One of course. Poly sequencer and Chord sequencer, plus the Multitrack and Stochastic and Matriceal and whatever else Manu is cooking up. Plus LFOs for control of MIDI or internal parameters. Plus CV control. Internal battery powered. It’s just crazy versatile and super fun, with insanely good customer support.
