Sending Start/Stop from Ableton to OT

Hey folks, I have my OT as the main sequencer for my Digitakt and other synths and I want to set up Ableton to send Start/Stop to the OT so that when I record everything in sync.

Can I use the USB port to connect the OT to my computer, or do I use the MIDI IN? The manual isn’t clear if the USB port also transfers MIDI. Would be nice to use the USB port so that I don’t have to buy a MIDI interface.

Also, all I need to set on the OT is TRANSPORT RECEIVE to on?

OT does not use usb for midi. It’s only for data to and from the card.

Your best bet is a MIDI interface or splitter. They can be found for cheap on eBay, just use the midi out of your interface and then use the thru ports on the splitter, you don’t want to chain more than 3 units as it’ll create latency and increase timing errors.

If you’re not using a DAW I’ve found the DT/DN to be the best master clock as it’s more stable than the OT. Hope this helps!
