Hey folks, new Digitakt 1 user and I have a question.
Is it to control hardware synth parameters via MIDI controller attached to Digitakt?
My setup:
Digitakt w/ MIDI Out (Sync A) going to a MIDI through box to two synths on channels 9, 10. Respectively. I’ve set Digitakt to accept MIDI IN on channel 16 and my controller is configured to send MIDI over this channel.
What works:
When I select the appropriate MIDI track, I can send notes to the the synths via their respective MIDI tracks using the MIDI controller.
I can configure DT to use MIDI CCs to modulate filter cut off and other parameters.
What does not work:
I cannot send MIDI CCs on the selected track via the synth - only the notes. I feel that this should be possible, or am I mistaken?
If you just want to control them with the midi controller, the synths should be connected to the digitakt midi thru port, not the midi out port.
If you want digitakt to sequence the external synths, they need to be connected to the out port, not the thru port.
If you want to sequence them with digitakt and control CC’s with the controller at the same time, then they need to be connected to boththe out port and the thru ports at the same time and then brought back together with a midi merger before going to the external synth(s).
I believe you can also set up a midi track to forward midi data along from the in port, to the out port via channel settings, bypassing the need to use the thru port.
Normally midi received at the digitakt in port will pass only to the thru port, not the out port. The out port only sends midi originating within the digitakt, while the thru port passes midi received at the in port on through to whatever is connected to the thru port.
