does anybody else use one of these and constantly have issues? i feel like im constantly needing to troubleshoot/reinstall application.
are there any that have rock solid performance, or is this just a part of the usb interface world?

Hey. I have a 8i6 3rd gen, I imagine they are very similar, and I dont have any issues with the application. are you on win/mac?
windows, its on a surface pro 6. a possible issue could be that ive got all my usb running through overhub gen2, as the surface only has one usb input(bastards!)
however, the only other things plugged into overhub are 2 midi controllers, one of which is almost always turned off.
my current issue is that for some reason, scarlett is receiving no signal from my computer. ive gone through all the audio allocations and cant find any reason it shouldnt be connected.
the audio straight through the analog inputs still work though
If you suspect it is overhub’s fault, try connecting the scarlett straight into the surface, and see how it performs. I am on mac though, so cant really help you ITB. wish you resolve it soon. cheers
Yeah ill give that a shot
I have a gen3 18i8 and its a PITA, mostly issues with the Control app dropping out and requiring rebooting (Mac, same issue across several different laptops). Im actually on my 2nd replacement, so my third unit, in two years, due to some hardware issues. Their customer care is really good. Id never buy focusrite again tho based on these issues, which is a shame as my ancient Saffire 6 is still going strong
I had two 4i4 gen 3s completely die at the hardware level. They’re frankly not very well built, and the software is garbage. The RME I have now is obviously in another class, but wow do you get what you paid for.
I have also 4i4 3rd gen and Overhub. I had occasional usb drop outs when using Overhub with both, mac and windows. I ditched the Overhub for another MTT hub and no problems since then.
Hi, I recently bought an 18i20 which should basically be the same.
Had lots of trouble pairing it with my Elektrons connected via OB on a Win 10 system.
After several hours of troubleshooting the support of Focusrite and me had a Teamviewer session and found out that there was some kind of driver conflict. Focusrite was kind enough to provide a beta driver that handles USB in a different way for the audio interface to me. Actually that has solved all the problems.
You might give it a try connecting their support. Unfortunately Elektron was no help in this case.
Good idea, ill shoot em an email
I guess the best idea is to chat with them during their business times. There is a chat icon on their website popping up during business times. I did that a cpl of times until the English team was able to help. Just to give you an orientation regarding the best time of the day to consult them. The American team took less time to help me and did not solve my problem.
Noted, thanks
I have that exact one and no issues. My first one was a dud with a noisy headphone jack. Returned it and this one is solid on iPad Pro and MacBook M1.
Windows 10 here. I have had a litany of issues with this goddam device. It says it’s connected but none of my system audio will go through it, except Reason 12. It hears and plays back all of my inputs no problem. So I essentially cannot play any sound from anything other than Reason 12. The only thing that seems to work is uninstalling the whole damn thing and reinstalling it, but I’m getting really sick of doing that every time it happens.
My 8i6 gen 3 had some minor issues until I started plugging it into its own usb port rather than a 3.0 hub. I was also getting absurd amounts of midi and audio latency.
had tons of issues on windows (10/11) with my 4i4 3rd gen, none whatsover on mac. so weird…
I have a recent problem. Recently if I have Chrome AND Ableton open, out of nowhere I get huge noises or weird metallic sounds that doesn’t go away. I contacted Focusrite people and did all the things that website says I should. It’s rare now but it happens. Do you think this is Focusrite issue or Windows issue? If it’s the audio interface, I will get something else in the future. If it’s windows I don’t know what else I can do since I did all the recommended things for performance. I have no latency issues to be honest. And this thing only happens when there is browser open. So weird.
