Saving buffers and file organisation

Hi all, I’ve had a really fun first couple of months with my OT, but am starting to run into a couple of annoying workflow issues regarding sample saving.

situation: you’ve just recorded something groovy into a recording buffer and want to save it for posterity, since as we all know the buffers are volatile.

I learned the hard way not to choose ‘save and assign to self’ when saving a copy of a buffer to a flex, since it assigns it to the buffer location, which is obviously overwritten on the next pass.

So now I’m doing ‘save and assign to free flex/static’, then configuring my machine. Problem is, every bank and project dumps these saved files in the root audio pool folder. The result is the my audio pool is a huge mess, with no option to move or reorganise anything because that breaks machine assignments.

I’ve read a little about the ‘collect samples’ menu option, which copies all the samples to the project directory. Is this the only solution or am I missing something more obvious?

Any discussion about file organisation and workflow is more than welcome! Cheers!

In the personalize menu, you can select to save the samples into the PROJECT FOLDER - this will help you to keep things organized

Ah, that’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Cenk!
