Calling all sample-enabled drummers:

Looks promising.
If I didn’t have that much samples already.
Was also looking at Wave Alchemy, Sys100. Complete library created with the roland system 100.
Since the synth drums library was so great, I’m tempted to get this as well
So much good stuff
They sometimes have really nice sales.
I am interested in this primarily for the digital / Westcoast bits I don’t otherwise have access to.
Have it ready to feed Patterning 2…
PSA: If you bought all products a few months back, you’ll have a discount code for 60% off this download.
Very generous, that team.
Does this not include this already? For $99?
Yep it does, but for those that bought all products bundle in the past it does not grant all future releases.
I’ve got the SYS-100 drums, they’re really good, meticulously crafted. Different flavour to my other drum samples too. I probably don’t need any more drums right now but will check out the Samples from Mars pack too…
Excited. I love both making sample chains from their hits and also sequencing their drum racks with OT.
So much you can do with just one of their releases and an OT.
how do you use it? Sequencing drumracks with midi notes and controlling macros via midi cc?
I’m always creating sample chains, but it’s time consuming, maybe I should try sequencing drum racks
I use it exactly as you describe.
Usually i’ll Move the voices in a drum rack around to match the format of the 2 x 4 columns of midi tracks on the OT.
In the 4 column grid of the drum rack, column 1 corresponds to MIDI tracks 1-4 on OT.
Column 3 corresponds to MIDI tracks 5-8
I use columns 2 and 4 as “auxiliary” sounds, easily accessible in my OT MIDI tracks by simply p-locking a +1 note on the respective tracks.
This makes it easy to identify what is controlling what, and to gain some muscle memory and hand eye coordination between the hardware and software. It really opens up the usability of having both working in tandem and I don’t miss my Rytm MK1 anymore.
Plus, MIDI retriggggg!!!
Sounds great. Thanks.
Some libraries also have sample chains included that you can drag to a drumrack pad with a macro as chain selector…
Than you could modulated sample selection with ot lfo’s or plocks like I would do with sample chains on OT audio tracks
Yep. Most of the “from Mars” racks work this way. That’s why I love em.
good to know
Merci very much!!
There are some very good grooves that can be tuned
And new percussive sounds that will do the job.
I will not eat everything but one shot for my DT step by step ,a little bit, for “the punch line”
On another “from Mars” drums note…
Got the free update for my purchased 606 From Mars (formerly “Modded 606 From Mars”) today. This was released yesterday for 6/06.
This drum pack also gets better and better. Now sampled through the SP-1200 and MPC-60, there is an MP / SP selector knob for each sound in the multi-sampled drum rack. This is wonderful. Two distinct flavors. My OT MKII MIDI Sequencer is getting a work out tonight!
A steal for $4.99 on sale right now, and I’m grateful it was a free update for those who purchased it previously.
I’ve been very impressed with Samples From Mars. Purchased the everything package and then get offered discounts or free upgrades on new packages. They definitely are good at customer retention.
The modular drums samples are awesome! Highly recommended - and the updated 606 pack adds quite a lot of extra punch…
