This was done in the OT using only the Ambibella d#3 sample. I used tracks 1-4 to build chords and assigned them to scenes. Tracks 4-8 were used to create the melodic elements.
All with a single sample?
Nice, it’s a challenge I should try to develop my sound design.
I’ve had another go.
This time rather than Massive Attack I’ve spent the week listening to Autechre so you might hear a bit of Incunabula and Amber influence.
All done in Polyend Tracker Mini again including the mixing etc.
Here is my second track.
I put most samples through SP’s ringmod.
Loaded them in M8 headless. Especially the Degrade worked nicely. Mixed in Live12, bit of Ozone. MP3 because of size.
OT; I put this track on Soundcloud cause I wanted to share a link here. Then I got a copyright claim from Kezz for his track Darkest Nights (Does not sound like mine at all). If I want to dispute it I have to give my name, adress, phone etc and all my details will be forwarded to this guy, WTF?
Is this copyright claim a sort of publicity stunt or what?
BTW: How do I put this OT bit under an arrow (hidden)?
Let me repost from another thread.
Also happened today, also soundcloud
"Ok little rant. Funniest thing happened, just got copyright claim by Soundcloud for posting my song.
Their claim is that i used C. W. Da YoungBlood song “Fn” (which has nothing to do with mine, or any samples for that matter.
Went on YouTube to see the song in question, and all comments are for same copyright claim.
How are these jokers pulling this shit?
Some claims date from 5 years ago "
An obvious false copyright claim should count as a felony and should be fined (imo).
I would guess that it is a stunt, performed by a soundcloud bot or an individual user in order to generate traffic to that person’s music. There seems to be consequences for using bots to listen to your music (generate plays), but perhaps categorically filing claims and having an actual user click on your music is part of a loophole.
They would have to be personally scanning all new uploads or have a program listening for their content if it were a valid claim. Much more likely the user scans a certain tag, or has a bot do it, and files claims with anything that could have even the slightest excuse of saying “oh I thought I heard my sample” otherwise the bot is not very selective and there may be many of these, then it will soon become common knowledge but not before they boost their plays.
Did you already try to scroll on that list and it’s just a fixed 3 options? If so, you can still use the “hide details” by manually entering with this format:
[ details=“your title”]your text[/details]
But you’ll need to remove the space that I put between the opening bracket and the word details, I only did that to break the formatting so that you can see what I’m referring to.
There is no scrolling. I was able to use Hide details some time ago. Anyway: Thanks for your help, I’ll try manually entering the format.
I made a video with the tracks I’ve made for the challenge. Since I already submitted a track I hope it’s ok that I didn’t quite follow the tempo restriction with these
Good. My favorite is the third one.
I don’t realize if the octatrack workflow is much different from the DT2, but that crossfader looks really cool for jamming.
Thanks. The crossfader is great and it can change all parameters on the eight tracks (except setup pages). And with 16 different scenes you can set up some scenes to change only the drums and some that change the synths - or let them change everything. It can be a lot of fun to work with.
I really hope Elektron is working on a new machine that can replace the Octatrack and also do granular.
First little thing I’ve done in months, thanks for setting this up @Jord.Lim
Made on the KO2 bringing bits in and out and messing with the delay a bit. Gone too heavy on sidechain but wanted to try it out after the recent update. Converted the samples to 11khz which is another new thing the KO2 can handle now. Not much sample mangling though
Very cool. The bass line is dope !
Ok guys, the battle is over.
Thank you all for your participation.
I’m discovering a very responsive and talented community !
And I was able to learn some tricks, thank you.
I suggest we start again later in a new edition.
So, if any of you would like to take over on the same basis and adjust the rules, let us know !
BIG UP
Thanks so much for organising!
I’d love to participate in another one.
Same.
Also simplicity is the key.
Plus maybe create a soundcloud or bandcamp link with all tracks for other people to enjoy would be bonus
Thanks Jord.Lim.
