Hi! I like doing some house music on my Digitakt, but I feel limited when it comes to using external samples from other songs. I love old-school house with funky sounds (voices, organs, …) and that require to be able to chop samples, recognize and adjust the pitch, adjust the tempo… all of that looks very complicated or impossible to me with the Digitakt.
I’m wondering what hardware or software would be the best, that could be easily used in addition to the Digitakt? I’m looking for something as simple and cheap as possible.
I have been playing with Ableton some years ago, but then I decided that I did not want to spend hours in front of computer, but rather doing music on hardware, and so I bought a Digitakt. To be honest today I would be OK to spend a bit of time preparing my samples in a DAW or any other software, before playing them on the Digitakt. I have a macbook + iPad + iPhone.
I love using my OG DT with my iPad. Chop things up in Koala, tweak sounds with FX apps, run synths with the midi channels, sample off of YouTube or Radioooo.com etc, all usb audio not a PC experience.
DAW is good b/c of Overbridge and all that power.
Edit - hardware could be an SP404mk2 for the chopping and FX, and MPC one for the pads/fx/song mode…
Thanks for the advices!
However I feel like the most tricky part is adjusting the tempo and pitch of samples (time stretching), does it necessarily require a DAW?
