Hi Octatrack addicts,
I am fairly new to the OT and I try to get my head around sample management. I have a bunch of questions related to sample management, but I want to focus this thread on one core question:
If you create sample chains, do you prefer a kit based approach or a “one of a kind” approach?
Let me explain:
- Kit based would be a chain of e. g. two kicks, two snares, two toms, …, two cymbals, … (generally one shots). You could have a chain/kit of clean drums, one of colored drums, one of processed drums, etc.
- “One of a kind” would be a collection of e. g. up to 64 kicks in one chain, snares in the next chain, claps in yet another chain etc.
I cannot make up my mind. I see pros and cons for the two of them. Before I make myself a lot of work, I would love to get some inspiration by experts. Why do you prefer one over the other? Or is there even some other way of clever organizing?
