Rytm playing rhythms?

the pads + scenes seem like they could be cool for playing/changing the actual rhythms of preprogramed tracks rhythmically  … is it fun and reasonable to make a track or most of 1 with 1 pattern and pad scenes?

not using them to tap out beats (that’s not how i use mpc 90% of the time) or just as mutes, but more to morph timing, feel, groove and articulation of the sounds of the rhythm that’s there? i’ve heard what scenes can do to change the sound, but not the groove of what’s there so much. (is there even an mpc style note repeat with different timings selectable live?)

i’m really just wondering how much people like playing with the timing of the beats live. i want to hear your drum solos! :imp:  :joy:

these aren’t questions i want answered, but for instance with the pad scenes:

could you route each pad to lfo speed or sample point, time divide/gate each of your tracks differently?

are there ways to quantize your pad modulations to trigs? the lfo?

change pattern length?

it’s easy to do stuff like drop the volume on some sounds and bring the other up? does working with multiple pads modulating the same things freak it out?

can you get the lfo to hold and delay the start of the attack envelope? or is there any way to delay the amp envelope? maybe use the delay 100% wet, if it gets clean enough?

how does sample looping interact with the analog and filter sound looping? options to loop just 1?

or could you use a few seconds of silence before a sample, put the start point in the middle and use pad pressure to move the start point closer or further to the actual sample to modulate pushing your beat forward and backwards in time? is there a way to add silence in the editor or do you have to do that on the computer? could you put the silence at the ending of the sample have it jump back?

there is only global swing? can you use the pads to add different swing amounts?

is there a way to put kits on pads and morph or do you program it all per kit? (tbh, programing performance/scenes is pretty tricky on the analog4 and octa, both for different reasons) with the more focused machines on the rytm i image it could be a lot easier to change sounds do morph them into accenting sounds, break downs, crashes, epic tom fills? lol

retriggering envelopes/lfos with pads?

can you run sound out then back into the compressor and use the pads to send different sounds into the side chain of the compressor and how the compressor responds?

i’ve glanced at the manual, but without actually doing…like if you have a decent sense of rhythm could you use the scenes to morph it between say a steady pulse, to a break beat to some grindcore to a hippy drum circle? to use musical examples, ike, neu, to whodini, to discordance axis, to boredoms?

i’m wondering because i get the most (enjoyment) out of the octa and machinedrum not using too many patterns, but really working over and mutating a few and how they interact. mono and analog4 (even with performance) i have to use mostly as processors to get this going on and usually end up using a ton of patterns with the sounds.

…not that either way is better or worse, but it changes what else i use it with, how i devote my attention, and tbh, i’m already happy with elektron’s step sequencers  actually playing the timing there’s just not a lot that lets you do that…i’m curious how it is on the rytm…
