Rytm MK1 <-> Roland TD-17 (Many channels/notes <-> Many notes 1 channel)

I’ve got my TD-17 connected to my Rytm. Rytm being a chromatic device receives all notes across its 12 channels. Drum modules like TD-17 send pads as notes on a single channel (10 being standard for drums).

Any ideas how to map the two devices together? Is there a way to remap this on the Rytm or do I need a piece of hardware to remap midi notes to separate channels?

Worst case I’m thinking this might do the trick: https://www.long-mcquade.com/2634/Keyboards/MIDI-Interfaces/MIDI-Solutions/Event-Processor.htm

Hoping there’s a simpler way.

Thanks!

If you read the section titled “MIDI notes” in the Analog Rytm’s manual you will see that the AR can trigger the Sounds of tracks 1 to 12 if you send MIDI Note numbers 0 to 11 to it on the appropriate channel.

The TD-17’s kits can have different MIDI Note numbers assigned to each pad.

There is no such section in the MK1 manual. But I checked and see the low octave does send instruments. Thanks for the tip.

Make sure you have the latest version of the MkI manual from Elektron’s website. In that version, it’s section 8.6 on page 22.
