Rytm for experimental hiphop/trip hop

Hi all!
This is my first post so first of all hello!
This is probably a stupid question cause Rytm is a drum machine with sample capabilities but I haven’t seen any hiphop vids besides the one here in the video section. I actually loved that vid it sounded good. Overall though is more of a techno/house machine or would it be good for hip hop? I have a chance to pick up mint condition machine drum uw for 900 dollars so I’m kind of torn… It seems like Rytm would be better than machinedrum for bass and low end kicks…also can you import larger samples into Rytm? I’m assuming you can’t chop samples up like in octatrack but that’s ok cause with p-locks and the ability to have start points this is even better.

I reckon yes, it’s perfect for hip hop too, it’s got an organic sound and obviously the sample support. It can play larger files yes, though I’m not sure how long, maybe not as long as the OT.

Here’s the demo presets that come with it, gives you an idea of the genres of genres it’s capable off, some hip hop in there too.

Yes, yes, yes!

Yes of course! The low end on the Rytm is perfect for Hip-Hop/Elektro beats.

The AR is really nice for a lot of genres.
I think it’s more about the user than the machine.
Hip Hop is a broad range of different production styles, i.e Pete Rock vs Dr Dre.
The AR can be very clean and extremely dirty.
One thing I like about the AR for any genre, is the global distortion and compression. A very tiny bit adds a sort of a beefy texture that glues it all together.
I haven’t even imported samples yet.

Hey thanks everyone. I’m super excited!! The stuff I’m into is more like Flying Lotus/Dilla stuff, but yeah I guess this machine can sound different within the individual… Low End for life!!!

Well it’s officially mine… Can’t wait to play.

I look forward to hearing what you do with it, as I am into the same stuff and have been eyeing the Rytm.

It will be absolutely amazing for these styles… It’s really, really versatile… Hell, I had a jazz/reggae/dub jam on it last night!
