RUMOR : Elektron Mixer thing

We’re going to need a lot more parameter-lock allowances.

Come to think of it, an Elektromixer would be somewhat apt for the company’s double decade anniversary, as if to say, so many machines are now available and here is a cool machine to mix them all.

And possibly a stereo track recorder to capture recordings up to 30 minutes in length, along with effects specifically for mastering such as Linear Equalisation … and a simple connection protocol (Octatrack style) as an external drive for easy access from the computer.

:rofl:Funny, people already bitching about it.

I somewhat agree though.
After putting these concepts together, there’s got to be a more elegant solution.
I feel like creating modern new designs could take forever, just analyzing what works and what doesn’t.
Thinking about what makes some machines more fun than others.
For example, Tempest is really fun, the OT is really fun. How could a mixer/recorder thing be a pleasure to work on.
Sure would be fun to work in Elektrons R&D department.
I’m really hoping to see them realease something different in the MKII format.

Somebody already made that mock up.
You should try one.

That screen is WAY TOO BIG!! :joy:

Ya know, I completely agree.
I thought about no screen for a long while.
However a tiny screen, for saving projects, preferences etc, I’d much rather see that.
More room for better UI arrangement.

At this point I dont really like multi layer mode stuff.
I like dedicated controls.
However, I know there’s a sweet middle ground somewhere.
Elektron is really close on some boxes, I would say the OT is the black sheep, it’s just so bad ass.
I’d actually like to see Elektrons version of an 8 channel DB4.

A mixer would be awesome I pre ordered the tone match from boss hoping it will be awesome

I did not want to wait for Elektron anymore and recently got the DB4, such a relieve after dealing with transition tricks for years with the OT!

  • now I use the OT for what it is really good, messing up samples
  • DB4 has 4 loopers for individual transitions between patterns or machines using the K2 and input matrix
  • the DB4 makes the A4 mk1 sound suddenly 10 times better
  • the effects are incredible
  • the filters are fantastic
  • a lot of flexibility with the input matrix giving access to 12 stereo channels of which you can use 4 at the time live while having 4 loops running to mix in, so you can mix 8 stereo sounds at the time + 1 line/mic input

Surely an elektron mixer would have to offer the x-fader + scenes from the Octatrack, as well as a step sequencer for p-locked fx/eq/volume/routing. Level meters as well please. And while we are at it, maybe a little resampling/looping?

Exactly

If Elektron would come out with such a mixer today, ppl which wanted a elektron mixer for ages would say that elektron releases new machine while the others are full of bugs and unfinished.

love the look of the Xone mixer with those sexy colours on the l.e.d. meters

Oh the bugs, these things are FULL off BUGS, it’s disgraceful, but they’ll make you coffee.

I would love a mixer from Elektron. But it should have the scenes and crossfader from OT. That is one of the best ways to mess around during a jam. A mixer with effects. like compressor on each track. Plus master compressor and maybe the Analog Heat at the master out. Delay and reverb pr track. All p-lock’able. Doesnt even need an internal sequencer for it to work. Just scenes and a crossfader!

It wouldnt hurt including a sequencer. But then people would complain that it doesnt have enough cv/gate outs. Or cv/gate in. Or not enough Overbridge usb ports.

scenes and crossfader from OT for sure … as regards a sequencer, i don’t think it would be missed, as the device would be feature packed already. A second crossfader would be nice for simple volume crossfading functionality, with a similar scenario to the djm800 mixer’s approach with each track either being designated as A side, B side, or neither.

but the ability to send out a midi clock and transport signal would be cool (using the time-feel and coding of the Machinedrum’s midi clock time feel, as that is the ultimate danceable midi clock i have ever heard, if that isn’t too ridiculous-sounding a statement)…

and perhaps also act as an optional one-in four-out midi expansion functionality.

Hey, I’m just an observer of this strange forum and it was just a speculation based on the comments I read here everyday.

Have a nice weekend all of you.

I think you graduated from observer

I like these ideas.
I agree, the sequencer may not really be needed on such a device.
On the original version I was thinking it would.
As for the cross, It’s a joystick now, twice as much fun.
As seen in another thread, it actually needs 2 joysticks, one with a spring, one without.
I’m filing a support ticket ASAP.

It should be like the Roland MX-1 with Audio over USB for Overbridge Devices. And with Roland Audio over USB compability.
