In Plugin Mode is it possible to change the default parameter names. For example in Ableton when clicking the configure button on Diva and then clicking on each of the envelope stages the Amp Attack and Filter Attack both just show up as Attack. When these parameters are assigned to different pots in Roto Control can their names be edited?
Working well for me. I’ve just been mapping all 3rd party plugins and it works exactly as expected.
I’ve been waiting for a midi controller that just works with any and all plugins without jumping through hoops and I think this is it. one USB C lead between it and computer is good.
Very straightforward and tbh exactly what I have been trying to achieve with various other approaches off and on for ages. Not to say there are probably other devices that can do something similar… but the knobs aligning to what you see on the screen immediately just makes it very intuitive when combined with matching colours and labelling.
This is what i wanted to hear. Mine, for Europe, coming in 3 weeks, damn. But your comments do help
Did you also saved synths as default, like digitalgeist, few posts above, explained?
My Roto Control was supposed to arrive today. Apparently USPS had other plans.
Yes, that’s right. I haven’t got to do this yet (still working through plugins) apart from with the DMX from GForce - which works very well as there are 8 sliders / pots - so each bank is volume/pitch/decay for each of the 8 channels…
It’s been rushed to market to hit NAMM though i guess, hence no manual… I’ve not worked out how to edit the pots “haptic”
Settings for plugins (at all) nor have i been able to use the app for anything yet
Every package I’ve had go through USPS, UPS, or FedEx has been out for delivery for a couple of days before I actually get it. I think they’re still feeling the strain of the terrible weather significant portion of the country had earlier in the month.
What’s the integration of Roto Control like with Push 3 (if at all)?
Anybody try this combo yet?
Also interested in this. Hoping it works the same as the Live stuff
The roto control and push don’t seem to conflict with each other. I mapped a bunch of parameters from the Operator synth to the roto and it worked well. I was still able to use Push3 to control operator as usual. Seems a little redundant though to use roto control for ableton devices that are already optimized on the push3 but it’s nice having the roto control right in front and the push to the side. I’ll probably use the roto control more for vst plugins than ableton devices or when I need something more portable.
Does the Roto Control have a sequencer? Wondering what’s spinning the knobs if not …
I wonder if this could work well with a simple mono sequencer in Ableton, buttons for mutes, knobs for pitch values. Endless applications really…
I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t work.
As long as the parameters are coded in the correct order in the m4l patch.
It has a motion recorder
i’ve just set mine up and am getting oriented. my primary interest is standalone use in a live performance context.
the first issue i’m noticing is that there is no way to save / recall states. i thought the “setups” would be able to act as save slots, but they seem to auto-save their current state when you switch to another setup… this is nice in that i can jump between setups in realtime, but it doesn’t help me with recalling presets (ie. starting a new song and reseting the mixer in m8 tracker).
so i guess i’m hoping for an additional state save/recall function on top of what’s already here. and of course being able to morph between states would be a total dream.
build and form factor is nice! haptic feedback on encoders is so cool.
I’m actually surprised by the price. Thought those motorised pots were going to make it steep but seems very reasonable.
I’ve been using Stream Decks for years to do the same thing so interested to see how this stacks up. I have an array of Stream Decks at work to route comms and audio/midi signals via Dante in large production environments.
That was my intention too and no one was answering my queries about presets and navigation. That little screen made me worry about this. I might have no use for it after all
Wondering if anyone has been able to get this working with 3rd party plugins yet?
I am having a whole heap of issues with the roto-control. On windows it will not update the firmware, will not show as a control surface (although it does show the roto-control in the input and output sections of the control surfaces) and I cannot get it to control 3rd party plugins at all.
On mac it is slightly better. I can add it to Abelton as a control surface and the transport controls work. I can also update the firmware which is now up to the most recent. However, still not able to control any 3rd party plugins. Any advice welcome
Personally I have had no issues with the usual way of configuring but it sounds like your problems run deeper if you can’t update the firmware
The haptics, steps and detents all seem to be controlled via app. The configs are .json files though so if you’re feeling brave you can just write them yourself too I imagine!
