I’ve just recently bought a Roto-Control - wonderful thing that it is - and I’m finding the touch sensitivity very good. A light tap once is all that is required.
It’s the first controller I’ve actually taken to with Logic Pro.

Nice that’s good to know ! Mine is probably defective - the first and last encoder respond to a light touch . The rest of the encoders have to be tapped 4-5 times to get them to register a touch .
Melbourne Instruments considers this normal behaviour ![]()
Sadly I’m out of the 30 day return window and just noticed this .
This thread really has been making me 2nd guess grabbing one of these.
Well that doesn’t sound right and it’s a bit of a stretch to say it’s normal behaviour. I would have expected them to back their product.
I do think it’s very good, but unless it’s reliable people simply won’t buy it!
I note they offer a 10 year warranty (10-YEAR WARRANTY — Melbourne Instruments), might be worth having another go at them. I presume you registered it?
Bob
Thanks yes I registered my controller! . I’ll be more confident in their 10 year warranty if this one gets resolved soon .
Here’s the video I shared with them - https://youtube.com/shorts/Dj9P7XpoPc8?si=zEsNqbcrV-TgNWKG
Encoders 4 and 5 were the ones having issues registering a touch. I’ve noticed this behaviour with the other encoders too .
I watched your video.
Honestly, the fact that Melbourne Instruments would consider that ‘normal behaviour’ is appalling.
Totally puts me off grabbing one - been gassing for a while but NO THANKS.
If I were you I’d go back to them and try again. Please report back
