Heh, yeah i was struggling as well, but at the end i nuked everything Roto control from my pc(except patches which i have saved on separate drive so i don’t loose all mappings) , rebooted pc and re installed fw 1.1.2 which i have saved before.
There must be a way to keep the manual mapping by checking the name and see if it’s registered in the Roto. If it is, use the registered mapping. If it’s not, map automatically.
Hopefully in the next firmware ?
Yeah, I did that too and it did manage to install 1.1.2 on the device, but the physical knobs no longer control the macro knobs in AER, and when trying to ‘learn’ them it doesn’t take their name, so it’s pretty broken lol. I guess I’m at the mercy of Melbourne to hopefully bring back the functionality that I thought I bought.
Yeah i had same frustration, but after loosing half a day i managed to make it work.
Just delete everything(do a search on C: drive by typing Roto and all files/folders need to be deleted, many of them are in hidden folders like AppData) , completely clean install.
Reboot
Install 1.1.2 fw
This is all great, but why not leaving the option to edit all parameters in Roto App as well, like we had before?
I thought auto mapping is implemented just so it can speed up stuff, but not remove functionality of additional mapping and label editing
Hey thanks for the encouragement, I found a few extra roto files kicking around. Deleted them, rebooted, installed 1.1.2, and it seems to work now
For anyone in the future too, 1.1.2 is still available on the melbourne website, just take the 1.1.3 download link and replace the 3 with a 2 lol.
We appreciate the feedback and have listened!
We are adding the option on Roto-Control to turn off the automatic rack/macro mapping. For those who preferred the deeper customization can choose to turn it off. And those who like the faster workflow, the Roto-Control will default to the automatic rack/macro mapping.
You are the man!
Thank you
Awesome! You guys rock for taking feedback and responding. I was worried I’d miss out on new update features by being stuck on 1.1.2.
Really appreciate what you guys are doing.
Isn’t it possible for the Roto to check if the name of the rack is registered or not, and switch to automatic mode if not, as I suggested ?
Thank you so much! It’s really nice that you are taking on board the feedback.
It’s possible to hot swap presets on Roto right? So theoretically, you could have a preset for controlling a rack in Live and then make a second “default” preset with the same controls in which all the parameters are set to a zero state. I’m thinking this might allow the possibility to tweak a filter/reverb send etc. on preset one and then switch to preset two to default back (for performance reasons). Sound feasible?
What about Variations available in Live ?
Have first variation set to default, and then for fx experiments which you can then save as additional variations, and recall while jamming

Hi All. Really impressed with my Roto Control so far but was wondering if anyone else has been using it with Iftah’s Ableton Performance Pack, specifically the ‘Performer’ M4L device?
Maybe I’m being daft, but there doesn’t seem a way to control this via PLUGIN mode so I have to switch to MIDI mode which can be annoying. Am I missing something?
Maybe I’m being daft
Yes - just needs to be done via MIDI mapping
Is there a sleep more to turn off the screens?
Unforunately no lol. You have to physically remove the cable(s) to power it off. I don’t have a USB-C port on my computer so I need the extra cable for power, so I have to plug/unplug two cables each time. I thought about using the MIDI ports for ableton so I could have just the power cable and put a switch between the roto and the wall, but that’s how I learned the MIDI ports only work for external gear.
Aside from getting two switches mounted somewhere under my desk to disconnect both cables, the only other way I can think of is a bash script that turns off a USB port and also powers off a smart outlet, mapped to a hotkey or something.
I guess this device is designed for a setup that’s just a macbook on a table or something, but I have a neatly cable managed desk setup so it’s pretty annoying to have loose cables on my desk if I’m not using the device. I think this is one of the most requested features I’ve seen people talking about online, but I don’t know if this is something a firmware update can add.
I really like this device. But why do I have so many parameter jumps? The roto-knobs are changing all the time without touching them. Only a little bit, but still… Am I the only one? Could be because I set the Pickup Mode on scaling. I don‘t know…
I’ve noticed the knobs sometimes feel like they jump a little, I.e. don’t move 100% smoothly. Talking to their support and they said to try using the power adapter which I’ve not done yet. It’s the second unit I’ve had as the first had an issue with one knob, so I think it’s a firmware thing
