Rossum Teaser: a new SP1200?

As seen on Instagram, Rossum is teasing something familiar:

Personally hoping for an updated version with elements from assimil8tor, but who knows.

Wow…… I hope it’s not crazy expensive

Interesting! Hopefully the price will be less high than the refurbished ones they were selling a while back.

Dope…but I think it’s going to be pricey

didn’t rossum announce this a couple years ago and state they would be super limited anniversary editions or something?

this has been on his site for quite some time.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. Especially tough if it’s pricey AND small quantities as it will definitely sell considering the following it has.

I don’t really have much hope for it coming in under £3k tbh. Which is a crazy price really. I doubt this is gonna be like sequential levels of production run and expect it to carry a high price just to keep up the prestige/speculation around the sp1200.

So I can see it being pretty much unobtainium unfortunately.

Hopefully I’m very wrong.

I think this is a new device rather than the refurb program thing they did.

This one looks different. Black instead of grey. No floppy disk. No metal badge etc.

And because Insta links never show for me:

It has longer sample time. Apparently 20 secs and better file management

Is that an SD card poking out at the front right or a micro SD?

Looks like an SD card, I just hope, it’s not just old model

Yeah 8x banks of 2.5 seconds apparently.

Wat is point?

Couldn’t the same be said for any reissue? The point is that there’s demand for it. I’m really happy to see Dave back at it in modular and now also bringing back the 1200.

The original SP1200 was £2200 in the late 80’s, but things like ram were much more expensive, so it was more expected to pay a premium back then.

Nowadays it could be built for a fraction of the cost, but nostalgia sells.
