Roland TR-1000 User Thread

I haven’t watched this yet, but this appears to be another basic workflow video, this time from MusicRadar Tech:

Ok so upon revisiting the demo Project 1 it does appear that a project can house a ton of different kits and patterns. And it also seems like they designed a lot of these grooves the way I do, which is A-D variations are an A Pattern and E-H are a B.

So now I think I will just load Project 2 and add a bunch of different kits and patterns to it and see how that goes.

When you change to a new project ( a blank one ) when you press kit to load a kit, the list is empty.

I see, here is the workaround for that from another user here.

“You can’t copy-paste between projects, but you can export a project, which is reasonably quick, depending on how much data you have. You need to use EXPORT and not BACKUP. You cannot export specific patterns, kits, etc. It’s all or nothing.
Then you load your other project and using the IMPORT functionality, you can select what you want to import and where to save it.”

I need to try one out next year at synth shop.

yeah I think this is the way. Lame that we need some kind of workaround but I assume it’s just the way projects are handled, memory allocation etc.

I had read this but it had been awhile thanks for the reminder

Anyone experiencing any aliasing on their kick drums?

No, but perhaps more detail would be helpful.

Which BD?

Are you creating it from scratch as a raw Gen or you loading one of the stock instruments or plugins from the default Project?

Are you using any insert FX? Send FX? Master FX?

There are so many options that simply stating “kick drum” isn’t enough!

Last week, I sent a pretty long list of bugs i’ve noticed (mostly UI), got this reply on the 17th… looks like they are hard at work (of course)…

Apologies again for the delay. As we continue our testing, please read this important message from our engineers:

“We’re aware that a small number of TR-1000 users have encountered issues affecting performance stability in certain situations. Our development team has been actively investigating and working to address these reports.

A system update is currently in progress and will include important improvements and refinements to enhance overall stability and performance.

We appreciate the feedback and patience from our TR-1000 community as we continue to strengthen the instrument through ongoing updates."

Best,

All analog kick drums and toms are aliasing. Sounds like sample rate reduction. No fx, and tried the individual outs. Same on factory patterns. Seems the unit might be toast. Tried a reset and calibration. It was fine until today, now every project and pattern is making metallic sounds on the low end.

Seems likely from your description, and the fact that it changed all of a sudden.

That’s a bummer. I hope you can get it fixed or replaced soon.

Thanks… not holding my breath ha

awe have some faith, they’ve brought us some of the most iconic music gear in the world.

while it’s a bit disappointing to find bugs in a new product, it happens, they’ll sort it out. over the last few years the sp404mk2 has turned into one of my favourite and most versatile peices of gear i’ve ever had.

I’m stoked at what the tr-1000 is right now—i’m having a blast. and i’m even more excited about where it will land in the future

Would anyone be kind enough to check if their ‘fill in’ preview is working as it should be?

I can’t seem to preview my fills (it just plays the existing pattern). I know another user has this issue too so I wanted to check if it’s a universal problem. If so, I’ll report it to Roland.

SHIFT/FILL IN TRIG - ENTER (The screen does say 'fill in preview ON but the main pattern is what I hear)

Thanks to anyone who checks this for me

As long as I enter Fill In Trig mode from TR-REC, and enter preview mode I see that pattern I’ve programmed but I don’t hear it.

So yes, if it’s supposed to operate as shown in the deep dive video, than I agree its a bug!

Also, is there a way to adjust the knobs in finer increments?

Potential owners… Andertons in the UK have one in stock right now.
