Boom goes the room! The only ‘draw’ I’d say, is you can’t play anything chromatically. So you’d have to sample the TR1000 if you want to play it akin to scales. I can’t imagine using the internal sequencer and tuning everything by ear.
I usually get nervous around the end of the return window, but this time I am quite sure this is a keeper for me.
I only allow myself one piece of hardware (aside from my guitar) and can’t think of anything that even comes to close to what I want out of a piece of kit.
It’s so fun, it sounds so good, it can do so much. Only reason would be financial one (I am lucky enough to be able to afford it, but its still a lot of money for a hobbyist machine).
Ive got a syncgen and a Nome2, haven’t tried getting in sync with my other gear… Hopefully they’ll fix the sync issues or the external sync boxes will work for this issue.
Anyone know if you can copy one instrument track from a page in a variation to the same instrument on another variation page? I tried copy and then the track button but that seems to be for copying a track to another track on the same variation
This is what makes it a drum machine and not a groove box imo…I’m happy enough with that.
I don’t play live and I just record loops and correct any lag in the ableton workspace. I’ve never had perfect sync with any old or new gear so none of that stuff matters to me right now.
Sample importing with the app is easy and fast. Everything sounds good and works so far. I’m happy.
is it possible to have two slices of the sample play at the same time? e.g. if slice 1 is triggered on step 1, slice 2 on step 2: assuming slice 1 is long enough, will it keep playing, or be cut off by slice 2?
Adding note sequencing features inkl MIDI for the 11th trigger out track seems like low hanging fruit firmware update. Xmas present maybe ?
No. Gens are monophonic.
You not having any luck even with the SyncGen?
Yeah, LoopPop mentions this in his review. Fingers crossed.
No disagreement here. If you’re coming from Elektron, say if you have a Rytm, you maybe just expected this behavior by default.
This is exactly where I’m coming from… I keep thinking it’s a lot of money to have in something I’m not 100% about… and then I remember how it looks and that’s it’s a Roland analog drum machine.
Still happily deliberating though.
I think it looks boring. I wish Roland would return to the exciting days of sunshine orange fades and chunky knobs but please don’t let my input affect your decision.
Totally worked for me. 808 and 909 kicks layered.
EDIT: but only for the gen, not the FX.
I’d say do what your gut feeling is telling you. The TR-1000 might be one of the most interesting and best sounding pieces of gear recently released but that doesn’t mean it’s the best gear for you. Better spend the on something you’re 100% sure off!
I agree, nagging doubts are there for a reason, go with your gut feeling. You can always pick up another one later if you change your mind.
I’m wondering whether clocking with CV affects latency issues?
nope
