Just left the perfect circuit tr1000 in store demo by the guy in the 3hr long Roland demo. My god it’s exceeded my expectations, sounds insane in person. Some take aways
- the fm sounds are delicious. A lot of variation.
- the instrument snapshots are so cool and can be sequenced per step
- there is great care and detail into sound design - the guy stacked the 909 and 808 kicks and used phasing tools to invert and shape the sounds so they sounded great together.
- all the sampling comtrols and time stretching sounded great
- the knobs and faders are of extreme hi quality. Some of the nicest feel over ever touched
- all macro assignments can be saved on an instrument level and can be recalled
- you cannot randomly change slice trigs
- they have been working on this for 3 yrs
- they specifically got feedback from the Detroit underground
- some instruments have note assignment while some don’t (only pitch)
- he mentioned possible chromatic options might be coming
- seemed doubtful separate midi tracks will ever happen and atm it’s only midi track trigs out from sequencer.
- the demo sampler showed 60hrs of available sample time lol
- cannot stress how insane it sounded, the machine sounded so well glued together - just such a strong and big sound.
- there was a lot of care put into replicating the og sounds like there is some interesting harmonic character between the 909 clap and snare bc in the original they share the same noise source - which they have faithfully recreated
- similarly he was going on about some kind of noise floor “adat” classic thing that he brought in and out to color one of the og drum sounds
- this was news to me - it can multitrack via usb 3
