Hello there, I wanted to connect my M:C to the 404 for samplin’ my beats and/or layer them with EFX for a live jam so that they talk to each other in a way somehow. Just wanted to bring them together to extend my way of making music. Would be great to get a little help (from my friends).
Before finding my approach, I assume that I need two TRS Cables and also a MIDI Cable? I also thinking of buyin’ a TX-6/Mixer ,-)
Ambient inspired jam with free running loops and one-shots. This little beast excels at ambient loops. Its an inspiring instrument and Pandoras Box. I hope to integrate the Roland T-8 Beat Machine with this soon.
I’ve been playing with my sp all morning. It’s a lot of fun but I must have the worst timing in the world. Years of step-sequencing are coming back to haunt me big time.
Thank you for the kind words. The SP404MK2 is a lot deeper than I imagined. I’ve barely scratched the surface. I look forward to more jams from fellow Elektronauts.
I’m seriously tempted by one of these, as a partner for a Syntakt and maybe Digitone, to mangle found sounds and spoken word samples. I’m trying to work out what you can do to a sample once loaded to a pad. Playback direction , start end points, fx?
Yeah that’s what I was considering. I was eying off a second hand digitone but it sold. Still being tempted by a Digitakt though I may go with the 404 instead. GAS is strong lately.
If you don’t need the new features and just want a simple sampler with efx and midi you could get a secondhand 404SX/A for cheap. That said, the MKII is amazing when compared to the older models.
I have a nice order coming in tomorrow so I was already trying the knobs. But as they were a but hard I didn’t want to pull too hard.
Pic will surely follow, unless I get glued to the skin…
I will be completely honest, I was 100% in the same boat, until the step sequencer came to the 404mk2
I out some time into playing with it a few weeks back while on vacation and it’s very capable. I think you are never going to get it to the same level of detail as the electron one, no question. That seems pretty difficult
But just as a sequencer on its own, the mk2 is really good. It’s less about the specific features live recording or step recording has, but it’s how the both can be used together to correct any short coming.
Live record mode benefits from step record mode by just having the ability to change mis hits, or remove them without having to time the DEL button
