reunited with the s-1 and its feeling like its gonna stick around this time. its such a joy to use with the p-6. i made these two tunes with the s1/p6 combo. im excited to get my other p6 back from my friend whos borrowing it so i can do a full family arrangement.
im finding that when linked with another compact unit, i actually really like that patches are saved in patterns. it makes it easy to experiment with little changes in each pattern, as well as lets me play with parameters while recording the tune into my 404 without having to worry about messing things up in the other patterns.
@oldjunior@protrusion thanks yâall! being able to sample chords onto the p6 to free up the s-1 for leads and plucks and arps n stuff has been the big shift for me.
i posted this in the p6 thread but i love this case for two compacts. feels like a little roland workstation in roughly the size of an ep133.
Chained a couple of things into my S-1 via the MIX-IN and plugged the USB into my PC to record a quick acid jam.
I set it going, zoned out jamming away for over 5 mins, got something really good going
I look up at the waveform in my DAW and immediately knew something was up
I kind of expected that this tiny and fairly cheap unit wouldnât also function as a sound card for external audio though. Itâs still a very convenient thing to have
I think itâs a bit sad since it was marketed as being able to bring a small set up with all the small Arias and chain them together and record where ever you are. But your also right that maybe one canât expect it. I was also surprised when I realised this and canât see the point of using the audio in any more for my use case.
But you can, itâ still an analog mixer so you could for example chain them to a Digitakt and then record them one at a time when you have something going.
Or, you could just connect all of them via USB and multi track record them to your computer
Itâs also a dedicated sampler. And the latest version
I expect this is a side effect of the P-6 actually needing the inputs for sampling and thus having ADCs, afaik the Aira micro range inputs are just hardwired to the output
Yes I know but my use case was to bring two and record outside my home directly to my phone with usb and nothing else and I canât now if lm also not bringing a separate mixer
Anyway, there are lots of people and use cases and then there are business realities, technical limitations etc. I wouldnât expect it at this price point and size, and feature set. But thatâs just me
