And… ordered! I need some of that lofi samplerate in my life.
Nice! That would match the 303 skin on my 404mkii well. Tempting!
Edit: Damn, they won’t just ship one to Japan. Kind of pricey for two plus shipping. I might have to wait for someone over here to start selling skins. It looks great though.
Edit: I went to a local Chinese food place for dinner and had something called a Dragon Highball made with Chinese Shaoxing wine. Anyway, I’m now the owner of two different Cremecafe P-6 skins. Haha. I’ll report back when they arrive.
Since I had to get two to meet the minimum shipment amount, I got the 303 and this one as well. Streets of Rage, but also kind of reminds me of the old City Hunter anime. They are non-adhesive, so you can swap them out it seems. Hopefully they don’t suck.

Will Roland ever give up on the awful 7 segment led displays? would have been interested in this if it wasn’t for the hieroglyphic text
I absolutely love seven segmented displays. And no stupid green like that one Korg. Red for the win.
The screen is a major selling point for me for this sampler compared to my 8-9 others. It’s wonderfully brilliant in how I find myself barely using it, yet I can easily do all the various things i need to do. Super simple and nice.
Good on ya’ Roland.
And this, my fine fellows, is how we appreciate what we’ve got.
Nope, Digitakt for me, icing on the cake would be polyphonic tracks for DII.
Although if the P6 is quick to sample into it might make a cool companion to the DII.
Don’t let the display dissuade you. You get used to it quite quickly and once you see it in action, it’s not difficult to read. However, I understand where you’re coming from. It seems more like a device “style/personality” choice by Roland.
Nice picks I’m sure you will be happy with your purchase they’re great guys who makes all of their stuff with love in Italy. I have this type of skin for mk2 I got from my ex alongside pouch and other goodies. They use old x-ray plates and I’m all up for using repurposed materials.
OMG, I’ve already received my P6. Can’t wait for the battery to get charged, dammiiiiiit…
Thanks, man. I feel better hearing that. Seemed like a bit of an extravagance, but really not that different from impulse buys on plugins and records I’ve made in the past. Plus, while it sounds weird, my 404mkii feels so much more “right” now that I have customized it. I have it out on my desk permanently now as I just love looking at it.
First session with the p6, nothing too fancy:
- listen / play with the factory patterns. The one sounding like James Blake (A3 ?) is dope. Let’s erase everything, tho.
- sampling some burps, snaps, claps just to get the hang of sampling / resampling. We’re in SP territory, here.
- ok, I can sample straight from my old ass phone, that’s dope as hell. Incredible, it has never ever worked with my SP404mk2. And recording to my phone is just as simple. Awesome.
- sample a drumbreak, sample some jazz piano, chop it up, mute groups and let’s flip it. F. Yeah, EZ PZ lemon squeezy.
We’re gonna be very good friends, that lil’ guy and me.
How come some of the settings in the voice menu for granular stuff don’t seem to change? This is head position for example, when I turn the tempo knob it changes and then when I stop it seems to revert back to (near) where it was to start with?
Got the same issue
It seems to be working by clicking shift+tempo knob - not mentioned anywhere
I raised the query in an earlier post but noone has come back
The manual is written really bad
It does say something about shift and tempo for some other parameters in the list but not head position, I’m guessing it should. I don’t really get what it means where it does mention that though!
Yeah, the manual is pretty bad even for Roland standards. I think it doesn’t even mention resampling.
Which I have not really understood how it works
Ooh, this looks like a fun lil thing! I might have to get me one of these… could use a no-frills sample playback device in this footprint
