The risk with Roland is always trending on the toes of some other product they have, the spaces left between the MC line and the Boutiques is tiny
Top wish would be a fully fledged groovebox with aira compact components. Imagine an mc707 the size of a boutique… I’d sell my op xy for that because I love and trust the roland sound.
More realistic though, an aira compact FX box with all the fx the MCs have… which are amazing. There’s basically no good battery powered portable multifx boxes at the moment. the korg kaos mini thing goes for way too much on ebay.
I’ve owned and loved the mc101 a few times. It’s great. But would want 8 tracks (actually 6 would do as the drum track is so well thought out). Line in sampling. And built in battery that lasts far longer than the 4x aas.
I’d expect an Aira compact iteration to have a usb rechargeable battery that lasts longer, but far less features.
The MC-101 is small, but also weirdly huge - what pictures don’t show is how thick/deep/chunky it is. It’s really not very portable
yeah its like two and a half aira compacts tall
im really digging this tune i made at a park today on the p-6 solo. i ran it through the 404 when i got home as is the ritual. i think its my favorite one ive gotten out of the p6
When you say ran it through 404, is that what’s doing all the momentary FX? I’m very interested in this combo, you see, and I can potentially see P-6’s simpler and better sequencer sequencing things in the 404 with its superior sampling time, FX, etc
yup! all the momentary effects, the vocal drop samples and transition crashes were done on the 404 and all the other parts of the beat were done on the p6. the 404 is the final piece of the puzzle for all my tunes.
the p6’s sequencer is nice and usable. it was pretty bright where i was and i couldnt see any of the lights on the p6 but i was still flying through the beat. i’ll always have good things to say about the p6
For sure! It’s so immediate. So the combo with the 404 for light and deep duties really appeals.
aha i couldnt immediately tell which one you were interested in getting. yeah i think the 404 is almost a requirement if you (me) want to make music without a computer. its the final stop for everything i make to get some extra FX juice and “master” compression, then i just upload the exported wav i get from the 404.
I have P-6 and I’ve owned at least 4 or 5 404 MKIIs, so I’m thinking of adding another 404
The P-6 developer is going to be speaking at a P-6 event here in Japan, but it’s in Osaka, so I don’t think I will be able to make it.
That would be rad!
thats cool! i wonder if there will be any recordings
The developer is much younger than I expected. Wish I could go and ask some questions.
