love the sounds you got out of it for this…
every patch is beautiful…
Thanks
Ouch! Now one more Cat available for Adoption, i guess?
Noooooooooooo!!!
If you are using the EXT Trigger to advance the sequencer it will always start from where it stopped. You have to push button 2 on the SH01A to stop it the again to start it from the beginning. There’s no “reset” trigger. If you have it set to sync from MIDI I believe it will always start from the beginning. Check your firmware and make sure you’re on the newest version from January of 2019.
It’s connected via midi. I’ll check the firmware.
Thanks!
Grabbed one of these for a decent price second hand the other day, as an impulse purchase because all my friends were buying acid boxes and I wanted something similar (but didn’t want something as limited as a 303 clone).
Sounds so lush. I spent the first hour programming BoC melodies into it.
My only issue with it is that the note priority in Gate mode is “lowest” rather than “last”. It means that I can’t play it live using my Keystep (or any other poly keyboard) and do upwards pitchbends. Fortunately it works fine from my Pyramid, which is finally making me use my Pyramid more; I had a nice little session with this setup yesterday:
The 01a is one of my favorite boxes. Like a grown up tb.
Yeah, it can get into acid territory (though, the envelope shape and depth don’t quite get there) but I like how it’s not at all limited to that.
I was sure there was a setting but might be confusing it with another boutique. Anyway, for the mono modes, I found this on a forum:
Sadly, the GATE+TRIG mode means that while pressing a key while another key is pressed results in portamento, it also results in the envelope getting retriggered again, so not a true legato mode.
Ah yeah. That sucks.
Does the original have the same behaviour?
Yep. That’s why the 01a does it. Them boutiques is well authentic yeah.
4-note poly and chord mode are nice “upgraded features”
I had the original years ago. I like the 01a’s size. Sounds the same…And, yeah poly makes it it’s own style. Not sure there is another poly synth with the same layout…I just love this synth.
Yeah, it’s a very nice layout. That said though, I keep hitting the sliders next to the ones I’m trying to adjust, but I’m sure I’ll get used to that.
Even though it literally does nothing my other synths can’t do, having such an upfront interface definitely makes me use it in a different way to my other gear, so it’s worth having just for that.
The midi implementation is really nice. I love my sh01a
