The frosted glass box thing - AKA the new Elektron machine…
It will resuscitate the old debate about a new analog MD…
Just watch out for something else on the horizon…
ahhh Cenk we all know that you know a lot more than we do
let’s talk about this horizon when you’re in switzerland next time
don’t all build yer hopes too high, because despite countless attempts Roland still can’t rekindle this analog magic again …
They should just make a box that has both analog remake of an 808 and a sampler. They should be able to be layered.
Now that’d be a dreambox
return of the 808
8 more days until namm.
I think it might be an drum machine with a bassline synth. I have a feeling it might fall short on expectations.
From the video: The probing and dedicated knobs tells me it might actually be analog. The in studio tells me they sampled the original samples.
Conclusion: Hopefully they don’t f-up the sequencer (MC-x0xs). It is a mistake to leave out CV outputs, unless they can do it for around $500 - $750.
its much much more likely to be VA instead of samples, given the very basic interface that is extremely reminiscent of the 808 - and that part in the video where he gets out the scope and looks at the 808 is more likely to indicate they are modeling the new oscillators (virtual or not) to have an identical response and characteristic… if you are sampling something, you dont need a scope to check out the waves, its recorded as a sample so of course its identical
and it might be analog, but since roland hasnt done real analog synths in like 30 years, im highly doubtful of that

An Elektron vocoder???

Edit: ditto!
Yeap, that sounds like Volca Beats MK2
hmm shoulda have looked at it, faek haha… apparently is actually the volca beats specs
yeh the “LED display, built in speaker” part is the giveaway
I think you are right. The 1/8 jacks do not make sense.
you have to realize the TR 808 was a mistake
it was a happy accident.
it was never intended to be used the way it was
go go frosted chained box!.
Also, Roland was nice enough to let it work with the Korg KA-350 power supply!! Bogus Thomann placeholder ad…
Finally, this Aria just doesn’t have the look or feel of something analog…it will be fully digital, or I’ll eat my A4 manual (luckily, it’s the thin quick start guide in case I’m wrong!)
I’m pretty convinced by the video that it’s a controller for a plugin, or if it’s standalone it is DSP at best and PCM at worst.
And that Thomann url is no longer valid anyway. Jerks.
you can see a profile shot of it on a table in the video when a guy in a lab coat is carrying the original TR 808.
I it looks too thin to be analog, it looks more like a software controller. we’ll see.
