Weren’t we supposed to get a ring modulation bass drum machine for the Rytm? I clearly remember from NAMM 2014 Elektron stating there would be a FM synthesis machine and a ring-mod machine released in a update. It’s been a year and still no ring-mod. Was it canceled? Is it done but not being released? Has Overbridge sucked every resource asset out of Elektron and thus delaying the completion/implementation of the ring-mod and other updates?
What is going on with this, would really like an update.
i dont have internal insights but given the complexity of the project its safe to assume overbridge did not allow any work on other stuff. i dont expect to see a AR update before summer.
They confirmed on their twitter more machineS are coming. Of course they didn’t say when but i think just the confirmation alone speaks to something soon-ish.
Judging by their continued support of the MD & MM I’m certain you have nothing to worry about. I’m sure they’ll be all over the AR once Overbridge is sorted!
Rytm is a flexible and creative instrument as it stands. If you have exhausted all musical, sonic and creative possibilities in a year with the tools currently available then I salute you!
Everyone knows that Elektron don’t sit around leaving their instruments to stand still. More features would be nice but patience is a virtue.
I’d rather some cheeky new hat machine or extra Paramus for those machines if anything!! Not that I don’t like the hats (I do) but there’s so many options for kick and bass sounds already it’s almost silly.
had forgot about the ring mod kick… Can’t wait to try it and Anything els new that comes!! but I find myself writing loads of tracks lately and hardly changing the kick Machine… (Can’t even remember which one I use tbh) ha. But it bangs a bit!!
Not sure if that’s just lazy or what Tho.
Yeah I don’t mind being patient and I absolutely adore my Analog Rytm, however the ring-mod machine was mentioned at NAMM 2014 and it’s been a full year without it being released. This leads me to question if it will release at all. I have plenty to do with my Rytm already, but more is always merrier.
I’m currently looking to expand my sound range and capabilities, I just purchased a Sub 37 and MF-102 Ring Modulator pedal from Moog to quench my gear lust. Hopefully this will pair well with the Rytm.
If the Rytm doesn’t appeal to you as it is, don’t get it. It already has three analog kicks, three analog snares and the ability to sample; much more than an 808 could provide for less. I see its potential to become even better, but you have to find it best enough as it is.
new sequencer upgrade coming to the sub37 is nice…not to mention them fixing my single complaint (menu diving for modulation destination)…the sub37 is about to get magnitudes more approachable in terms of quick/diverse sound sculpting.
I’ve been tempting to pick up the minifooger ring mod, I already have the MF-104M super delay.
I use my analog rytm with a 102 and its pretty awesome. Combine it with the 104m and the 101 and you can get some really cool (and subtle or not so subtle) timbres. In a rush right now, but I might upload some kick drums I’ve made with them (and the drive is insane!)

I’m really tempted by the sub 37… I’m in the air right now between getting more heavily into modular or picking up a 37. How awesome is that thing?

don’t want to get too much off topic, but I imagine the sub37 will go down as one of the great monosynths and likely be worth more down the road than it is now…if I had extra cash, I would buy one and keep it sealed as an investment
obviously, I can’t afford that, nor can I keep my hands off mine, the new firmware allows you to hold the modulation button and simply turn a knob of the thing you want to modulate, basically, it’s pretty much all accessible now via turning it’s knob (no menu browsing required)…sequential pro 6 has my interest for same reason (as a poly)

Yeah man, if you can upload some demos that will be sweet! I’d love to hear the Rytm processed through the 102.
Does that mean it can’t possibly be improved? Are there not certain aspects that we can all agree are screaming out for improvements/additions? Anemic selection of hi-hat parameters, promised set of FM machines, pad sensitivity curves, etc.?
Who said anything about exhausting all anythings? Did you read my comment? I said I haven’t even bought one yet.
As a Tempest owner I’ve learned my lesson about buying expensive gear based on vague future promises or assumptions in general—I buy it for what it can do today. Elektron is under no obligation to add anything to Analog Rytm, just as I am under no obligation to buy one.
I suppose Elektron will have to be patient waiting for my purchase, then, too. I can wait![/quote]
If you don’t own one and want to wait for a concrete set of extra features for the money (which is a lot) then I guess they will indeed have to wait for your custom. Hopefully there are some updates soon, it is a really nice machine.
When making music I generally use a range of hardware at the same time as the Rytm so I am sure that I compensate elsewhere when I can’t find the sound I want to hear.
