Exactly… it just looks easy. It might be even easy to just recreate what he already did, but it’s the ideation to creation process that is not a given for everyone.
I tip my hat and give thank he’s actually showing people his process.
I don’t make his kind of music, or always agree with his opinions but none of that means anything because he’s good at what he does (which is a rarity among video personalities).
yep, and most of the time it just looks like he’s confirming the choices he already made before he began lol, a lot of people get stuck at I don’t know if this even sounds good or not and don’t have the confidence to move forward… actually I’d love to see a video of him that is all about the concept of knowing what he wants to hear and why he knows what he wants to hear if he’d be so inclined…
Some people might find his tone and the kind of ideas/sounds/music coming out from his videos just plain boring. Simple as that.
He might be a super nice guy, but that’s a completely different matter.
Of course, but that‘s no reason to shit on him. Just ignore or skip the video and move on. No need to post that he‘s „playing it safe“ or whatever, what’s the point? Other people find his videos helpful and/or interesting.
well yeah, some people think that having a tattoo makes your music sound hard lol but I’m not making an artistic point about his music one way or the other… what I’m saying is that if you watch the majority of his videos he knows what the sound
is that he is going for as opposed to going for anything and then finding out that he likes something… he knows what he wants the music to sound like specifically before making it… if it’s boring it’s boring but the point is he knew the exact sound he wanted, then crafted it… where as a lot of people do a lot of guessing until they hit upon something they like and keep that… I’m just saying I think that an important part of whatever skillset he has is that he knows what the sound is that he wants and crafts that, then is confident that he’s got it and moves on… and I think it’s this reason he moves quickly…
love that you used dataline, whom I am a fan of as far as product demos as well… and but he is exactly the opposite… again not talking about his music, but what he does in his videos is completely search and discover, the exact opposite point I’m making about the tinez videos… datalines videos are all about what if we do this what if we do that, what if we throw this in etc… do you see what I’m saying…
btw datalines video on the digitakt with cuckoo is my all time fav of all digitakt videos…
but anyway, my point is all about the process and the skillset the presenter might have behind the process, I wouldn’t waste your time posting videos about which demo person makes the best music etc… because that is subjective and personally I don’t even care… but the skillsets behind their process is what I find interesting enough to talk about…
lol I’m sorry bro and to the proud boy that keeps flagging me today but this is my thread and I just can’t think of cenk and the digitakt without posting this video… it amazes me that I go back to this video time and time again and still get some inspiration from watching it and the digitakt has come soooooo far from what it was capable of back then, just fucking amazing…
Yes, his base sound is quite simple, but listen to how he’s playing that shit live. He has the perfect balance between pre-arranged stuff and then starting to improvise because he just feels pretty confident with the gear he chooses and the music he makes.
I would love to dance to that live and see him having fun! I mean he’s not just muting/unmuting and playing with some filters but actually adding new notes and bass lines. And just totally grooving into what the track needs.
His video recently about having a signature sound (using a lot of the same samples because you like them) was great and very helpful. I like Ricky, he’s a good kid.
with that hair and no glasses looks a bit like he could be danny trejo’s cool kid little brother.
what’s up with his gray function button? is that what they look like with the coating stripped off or did that come from a different elektron machine? it has like a little dash line on it or something.
