So I just got my new DT2, went to copy my old sample chains I had created for Octatrack many years ago, and realized that I’ve created them with OctaChainer, so they are not equally spaced in a grid.
What would you consider the fastest, most effective way to take those chains, split them again into individual hits, then reassemble the chains?
Maybe loading a chain into Ableton’s Sampler, slicing by transient and then creating a clip with one note per beat…?
That’s one way to go. There will be a some amount of manual work to be done, whatever that manual work entails, with barely variant degrees of speed and efficiency.
Now, thinking out loud, if the *.ot
files for the chains were available, I think DigiChain could load them and that any slices in the file would be displayed, and that maybe DigiChain would allow to export in a DT compatible format…
Good idea! my other idea is to sequence the chain in the OT then record it at a low BPM… I sold my OT though, but I plan on buying one again pretty soon
If you have the .ot file, drop them along with the wav into DigiChain, then click the slice grid icon in the list, click “new spaced chain”.
(Set your audio config to Digitakt II in the audio settings panel first before dropping the files).
You can also slice them back out to individual samples if you’d prefer to reorganize the chains.
That’s absolutely epic, I have wanted to convert some of my older OT chains for a while but didn’t know I could, without lots of effort. Thank you!
