Dang man… All the rockers are dying off. I don’t really follow any famous rockers on IG but I’ve filled him for a while now… Loved his sense of humor and banter. It’s a sad day.
First concert I ever went to was KISS in 1979 - Dynasty Tour. I was 8 years old and my mom rules for taking me.
Terrible news. What an incredible character and a fantastic guitarist. I’ve been a fan since the mid-70s. I used to endlessly draw pictures of Kiss when I was in grade school, and Ace was my favorite. When I was around 11 or 12 years old, my kid sister wanted to dress up like Ace for Hallowe’en. I made her a cardboard facsimile of his shoulder “fins” and did her makeup for her. She looked fantastic. My young life was made bearable listening to those records.
I am heartbroken. Have fun in the great beyond, Spaceman.
Fuck, Diane Keaton, D’Angelo, and now Ace. I could make a very strong case that all three of those people are in my DNA on some level. And yet the Cheeto prevails. Nice world.
I digress. I wear an oversized Kiss Destroyer t-shirt every night with my comfy sweats before bed. It’s on, as always, tonight and it’s bittersweet.
Coincidentally, I posted this jam below weeks back for the, I think it was, Resurrection Beat Challenge thread. For me, it’s up there in the pantheon of greatest NYC songs along with Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, and the Ramones (53rd & 3rd, if you must know…).
Safe travels, Space Ace. You were one of the gods to us 70s kids.
