so it seems that if you change parts during step 1 ALL tracks with a sample playing on step 1 go SILENT for the duration of the whole pattern length?!

I remember having this conversation before. I used to change part on the same pattern. That caused the sample to stop playing.
Fix: make another pattern and make that pattern that particular part that you want. Change the part with changing the pattern.
Let me know if that fixed the problem.
Thanks yes that works but was really just trying to determine behaviour. Seems weird that you get only short dropouts when changing parts during a pattern, but you lose a whole bar of trigs if you change the part at the beginning of the bar, which is more likely / more 'musical usage (being a ‘performance’ sampler and all!)
Also wondering if it was already acknowledged as a bug
