You will get the encoders/potentiometer as spare parts from the Elektron support. The recommended solution is to send the device to the Elektron support and have the replacement done by them, not on your own.
Hi, if you contact Elektron support by filling out the contact form within your account on the elektron.se website, you can tell them that you’d like to purchase an encoder. The cost is around $4 or $5 USD with approximately $12 shipping so you can convert that to your local currency.
If you don’t want to purchase theirs, maybe they can tell you the equivalent part number. The pots that they use seem to be mostly made by Alpha on the newer machines, the encoders may be Alpha or Bourns as the older machines seem to use Bourns and there’s no clear indication of when or how entirely they switched manufacturers.
Hi, thank you for your answer. I already contacted them. Until now I got no answer. That’s why I ask here in the forum. Part-number would be great so I can order them from mouser for example.
Yeah, if it’s physically damaged your only option is going to be remove it from the PCB and even if you attempt to bend the claw back into shape then at that point, for a $4 part, you should just replace it so I certainly appreciate where you’re coming from.
The issue is that even if someone has an encoder in hand, even if it has a code that states the number of detents and the value, I still don’t think that they have a part number printed on them and Elektron doesn’t seem to refer to them by manufacturer part number on invoices, just the title that it has in their inventory system.
If someone checks in and already had the same question answered by Elektron support then that would be ideal, but more than likely you’ll need to wait for a response.
While I hope someone does have the information, I might check with the people selling analog 4/rytm and octatrack encoder kits on ebay as I would think the part is likely the exact same for the heat encoder. You could send them a picture to confirm but you may be able to purchase only 1 or 2 from one of those suppliers as they seem to know which version fits.
I don’t know if they’d just give you a part number but who knows, it might be a good day and maybe some nice seller will tell you the brand and part number. Just being realistic that 9 out of 10 threads that I read where someone asks for an elektron part number the question remains unanswered.
I am confident that we will obtain the part numbers. Afterwards, we can create a knowledge base article that includes all the encoders for the devices we are familiar with.
Yessir, no problem. I hope support will reply to your inquiry after the weekend or in the near future. That would, of course, be the simplest solution.
If you confirm the number of detents in a full rotation that will also further reduce the guessing.
