Xylitol’s Pogo With Dolphins Live and Indirect session goes out once again at 20:00 BST / UTC+1 this evening at Repeater Radio. Her new album Anemones is also just out via Planet Mu.
The Live and Indirect session on Sunday 21 July 2024 at 20:00 UTC+1 / BST on Repeater Radio features a recording of # 51e Rencontres de la Synthèse Sonore à Plougonver - Session #1: Coat an Noise.
Feel free to join us in the Discord server chatroom on Sunday.
Context
This improvised session took place under the shy sun of Plougonver, Brittany (France) on June 29th 2024, and was performed by Francis Fergusson and @LyingDalai, in the spirit of Paula Berthe, a previous ambient/noise project with many friends that started circa September 2017…
The concentration needed for operating weird and/or complicated electronic instruments (modular & semi-modular, samplers, analog synthesizers) and the game of seek and hide between the two musicians were a welcome path towards escaping an uncommonly stressful situation shared with a lot of citizen in our country.
In the mindset where you try to reach the other through sound, respect, humour, constructive reaction and juxtaposition, back and forth movements, the alteration of everyday-life noises, such experience offers both a tremendous catharsis and a healing distance from the “real” abstract world, a presence in the moment, in a place where you are quickly reminded how powerful is Nature.
Instructions
Please put down the black screen.
Make sure nothing pollutes your mind.
Sit comfortably.
Close your eyes.
Enjoy the moment.
We do hope some fragments touch your heart.

Thanks @LyingDalai ! That was terrific and queasily immersive.
And here comes @LyingDalai yet again at Repeater Radio on 1 September:
Qasz - Drive Me Maze
You are wandering in the nature on an island you’re discovering, when you’re suddenly facing a closed gate. Finding a breach in the fence, you’re quickly investigating what this is all about. Through a large hole in the ground, you see a vault, then a corridor… You wish you had more battery in your phone but the adventure is calling…
What will you find? Will you safely get out of the labyrinth you’re quickly trapped into?
Feel free to join us in the Discord chat on Sunday evening.
There will also be a short Drift of Signifieds Live and Indirect Supplemental session to close the hour.
What a great set that was; and now here’s the archive:
Storyteller will be Live and Indirect on Repeater Radio this Sunday 15 September at 20:00 UTC+1:
Storyteller is writer Bruce McClure and sound artist and producer Bjørn Hatleskog. Together, they create occult thrillers of rural depravity using suggestive drones and broken machine music which blend Lovecraftian travelogs and spoken word with electroacoustic night terrors and techno. They have released 4 albums on Adaadat Records.

And once again there will be an Interference Radio Radio Inferences (2024) session to follow after Storyteller this evening.
See you all in the lounge…
UPDATE: and here’s the archives:
Just found this, love it!
I incorporate radio in my live sets a lot, maybe I can contribute to a show
Ten Days in Fructidor CCXXIX by INFRADRIZZLE
Alan Holmes (Ectogram, Parking Non-stop, Fflaps, many others) and Zoë Skoulding
Infradrizzle’s experiment in altered sensory time began when they caught Covid in the late summer of 2021 and spent each of their ten days of isolation improvising together with all the instruments (and potential instruments) they could find in the house. This collage of the results, sequenced chronologically through their recovery, is layered with sung and spoken cut-up text derived from Zoë’s 2020 poetry collection A Revolutionary Calendar. The title refers to the calendar introduced in France in 1793, which had decimal ten-day weeks and days renamed after plants, animals and farm tools. Months were named after seasons: ‘Fructidor’ is the month of fruitfulness.
Live and Indirect at 20:00 UTC+1 on Sunday 29 September 2024 on Repeater Radio.
Update: and here’s the archive of a terrific session:

This Sunday’s Live and Indirect session comes from Mat Colegate (Teeth Of The Sea / Lord Nuneaton Savage / Raised By Wolves / Medicine and Duty) in his M.L Deathman / Mighty Lord Deathman guise:
All the music presented here as The Day It Rained Forever was improvised and recorded into a single room mic in one day - the 24th of November, 2025 - with another day set aside for editing, mixing, sequencing and minimal overdubbing. The rain sounds were recorded by holding a digital recorder out of the studio window and capturing the afternoon’s ferocious weather. It’s hoped that the combination of music and ambience gives the listener an impression of what it was like to be in the studio; drinking tea and smoking, staring out into the rain, stroking the cats and playing without a thought for anyone who might be listening.
Feel free to join us in the lounge.
Update: the archive is now available
i’m very, very late to this but what a fucking incredible effort and cache of recordings. much love and respect to you @DoS
Oh thanks very much! It’s a real pleasure to put this show together and there’s some exciting developments to come in 2025 too …
Inspired by the Jamuary tradition of spontaneous composition held in the first month of each year, several artists have been invited to create brief compositions for a collective Live and Indirect session at short notice.
Various Artists: Live and Indirections Volume 1 goes out at 20:00 UTC on Sunday 5 January 2025 at Repeater Radio, and the Discord lounge will be open to all as usual.
Contributing artists are:
- zzimmerr - “Eyeball Skeleton” and Phil MFU - “New Year’s Eve Jam”
- Lying Dalai - “Nuear”
- No Masters - “Hastily Assembled Neural Modelling Patch”
- Entropy Circus - “Im Modem Sandoza”
- Hákarl - “Improvisation for Freq, 04-01-25”
- Lying Dalai - “Ancholie”
- Drift of Signifieds - “Auld”
Phil MFU explains: ‘“Eyeball Skeleton” is with my new group zzimmerr playing a cover of a theme tune by a teenage garage rock band Eyeball Skeleton made famous via WFMU. The second track is me jamming with musicians in Belgium, New Years Eve.’
Lying Dalai (@LyingDalai) wonders: ‘How come some years feel tougher than others? Is it me aching in my aging bones, in my mind, or the world trying to plant dark roots in my heart? Dear people’s warmth and playing or listening to music stay the way to renew energy. And stand.’
No Masters (@Fin25) recounts: ‘It’s basically a couple of really quite stupid neural networks trying (and gloriously failing) to figure out how to play a couple of physical modelling algorithms in Max/MSP.’
Entropy Circus ‘have been around for fucking forever, doing a fuck load of fucking incompatible things, so you can’t even be fucking sure what the fuck they’re going to sound like next. Sure there was all that fucking around with modal wah guitar, those fucking widescreen rompler fucking things, the fucking MIDI skronk and of course fucking endless auto-fucking-slav trackerisms, but these are by no fucking means the limit. Effectively they do what the fuck they like, yeah?’
Hákarl 'is the solo project of Kev Nickells (Brighton, UK). Recently I’ve been poring over recordings and literature about maqqamat - classical Arabic musical systems that very roughly correspond to Western modes; maqqamat is the plural, maqqam the singular. This piece is an improvisation for fretless guitar. I’m playing about with a few Ajnas [singular: jins] which are (again roughly) scale fragments that make up a maqqam. Arabic listeners may want to brace themselves for some unorthodox approaches; I’m definitely not trying to be authentic. Except in that valley girl sense of being, like, authentically me yeah?
Drift of Signifieds ‘have dredged up something old, and borrowed the piece concerned from themselves.’
Playing now
@Fin25 talking like a washing machine that ate a brick.
Seems legit
It wasn’t me, it was my computer.
So you say, so you say…
Great collective session - thanks all !
And updating to add the archive from last night here:
It was great fun having so many contributors to one hour-long show, and please PM if you’d like to submit something (about ten minutes long) suitable for a future volume of Live And Indirections.
