Reliable MD repair technicians in Europe

Hello everyone,

I’ve seen various posts about spare parts and DIY repairs, but I’m not sure I’m capable of repairing electronics myself.

I recently acquired a Machinedrum. Partly out of nostalgia, as I had one a long time ago and had completely forgotten about it. I love it. Even though my machine looks brand new (the guy who sold it to me had never really used it… lucky me!).

I once broke the screen on an Analog Four by accidentally dropping an XLR cable on it, so I’m a bit stressed about it happening again!

I would like to be prepared in case my Machinedrum MK2+ needs repairing. I can’t repair electronics myself, so I’m looking for professionals.

Can anyone recommend:

  • Trusted repair technicians in Europe (preferably France)?
  • Shops that repair vintage Elektron equipment?
  • Has anyone successfully had MD screens, encoders, or other components repaired?

I know Elektron no longer repairs the MK1, but I’m not sure about the MK2+. I just want to have contacts ready before I need them!

I’m also interested in finding repair shops that stock spare parts, such as the plexiglass screen cover.

Thanks for your recommendations!

Hi. Elektron still sells the plastic screen bezel part, and you could order one and have it delivered to you, but there is nothing to say that it’s a part that they will have available forever, just to say that if you wanted one now then you could get it at a relatively low cost.

Earlier this year someone posted here that they had purchased a screen bezel from elektron support for their mkI machinedrum and that elektron sent the mkII screen bezel because that’s all they still have in the warehouse, but that sounds ok for your situation.

They will also still service mkII devices if you make a technician appointment, but of course it would require you to ship the MD to Sweden.

Someone else will have to refer you to a third-party repair technician because I don’t have that information but I’m sure that there are some qualified technicians in your country.

Good luck with your search and enjoy your machinedrum, sounds like a nice one!

Thank you so much for this info! That’s great news!

Really good to know they still service MK2 units - shipping to Sweden is not a problem at all if needed. That’s actually very reassuring! No need to stress about spare parts then.

Appreciate the help!

No problem, it’s nice that you were able to find a good one, but I do understand the concern.

I think if shipping is possible (or acceptable to you), elektron is the most experienced and qualified to do the work. For something small like encoders or buttons, I think a local computer technician or similar type of technician in a music related shop could do the work for you.

Maybe someone here will still know a good synth technician in France and be able to help make the connection for you.
