I’d like to recreate the Syntakt’s metronome sound.
How would you do that?
Thanks!
Hey, I’m not sure if the question is more along the lines of “how do you recreate a complex sound (syntakt metronome) through synthesis?” or “How can I use the syntakt to synthesize the sound that it’s own metronome produces by default?” but if you have 15 minutes to learn a little more what complex sounds are composed of, how they’re analyzed, etc. this video is a good starting point before going down the youtube rabbit hole for hours at a time.
Generally speaking, if you were able to record the tone and look at a spectral analysis of it, or hook up a scope and watch it as it plays and then use that visible wave as a means of recreating a wave with a matching timbre, shape, envelope, period etc, thus attempting to visually match the waves and recreate the actual sound you’re hearing - that would probably be the most accurate way. If you’re asking how to do it using the syntakt as your tool I’m afraid I’m not your guy on that one but maybe this will help, maybe not. Hopefully the former.
Ha! I was looking for the shortcut, of course – but this video is what will help me way more.
Thank you!
Yeah my favorites always tell you where to turn the knobs relative to the positions on a clock but I swear this video will help you more in the long run

Just use the digital hi-hat machine!!
For an unpitched percussive sound like the Syntakt metronome I’d suggest to use a burst of noise with a suitable envelope and apply a filter/EQ (basically subtractive synthesis).
