Hi all
I’m working on a solo set with the Octatrack MKII as the center piece, live sampling tenor saxophone. I’m using a Line6 Helix Fx to add some effects and to send midi commands to the OT to start sampling on the selected track to keep my hands free (midi note C#4). Everything used to work just fine, but now seemingly out of nowhere there are some strange issues.
The Helix midi command now only triggers the recording on track 1. And on top of that the Rec buttons on the OT don’t do anything anymore. They still work on Pickup Machines but not on Flex tracks. I didn’t change anything in the recording settings and I’ve tried everything I could think of, starting new projects, disconnecting the Helix, different recording settings, different memory settings, etc but the problem remains. I can record with workarounds like one shot recording triggers but I cannot understand what’s going on with those Rec buttons.
Any idea what could causing this? Since my experience with the OT is somewhat limited and given its complexity I’m hoping that I’m just missing a simple detail. But at this point it sure seems like there’s something wrong with my OT.

Possibly RECORD QUICK MODE in PERSONALIZE menu is unchecked? That is all that comes to mind.
Yesss! It was disabled and enabling it allows me to start the recording with those Rec buttons again. Thanks a bunch!
I also just figured out the solution to the midi command thing: I’m sending to channel 1 from the Helix, so I turned all the individually defined midi channels of tracks 1-8 to “off” and the auto channel to 1.
I never changed those settings but it just dawned on me what probably happened: I updated the OS a week or so ago and hadn’t used the OT since. And I guess both those issues are global settings which get reset during a OS update. I hope that’s what happened, cause then I could let go of this sense of mysterious things happening to my OT.
