Recording Syntakt via Apollo Twin X to Ableton without Overbridge

Hi everyone,
I’ve been trying to record a kick from the Syntakt to Ableton via my Universal Audio Apollo Twin X Duo interface. It’s really strange, but there seems to be a big lag going on. The Apollo is practically lag free, and the buffer size is as low as possible on Ableton.
The reason to do this without Overbridge is that the input signal for the kick is too low. I can bring up the gain the expected 12dbs, but by doing it this way I can use the interface’s preamp and achieve a much better result - if it wasn’t for the lag.
Has this happened to you? Any suggestions or something I’m missing?
I’ve read on forums that this used to be a thing back in the day, but if I configure it as a simple sound signal, it shouldn’t be the case right?
Many thanks in advance for your input,
Jonny
