I’m finding I often want to capture a submix in a recording buffer. For example, T1 and T2 while other stuff plays on other tracks.
My approach is to use “studio” mode, send T1 and T2 to the Cue bus (they continue to go to Main), and record Cue to an open recording buffer.
Is this the preferred approach? I think I know that in non-studio mode the T1 and T2 audio goes to either Main or Cue, but not both at the same time.
Recording Cue, yes.
(It is also possible to invert MAIN and CUE roles : Cue as master, Main as submix.
Advantage : possible to use Level as fx sends with scenes. I tried it sometimes but it warps my head !)
Studio or Normal mode. Same levels.
Only differences between Studio and Normal modes are display, and common mutes vs individual mutes.
Studio mode display is better, but in some cases I like to mute Main and Cue individually, quicker than Main and Cue Level changes !
